2022 Ram Tow/Trailer Camera Options

Thanks, Cody. I have a 2022 RAM and thier single wired camera system. It's just enough length to run it to the back of the 37' fiver. I would hate to add an extra screen to my system when my rearview mirror already does it, and I won't go without it either. When I get a new trailer, I'll be coming to you for a wireless system that integrates with my built-in display (mirror).

Thanks again.
The 12 pin is for the infotainment screen aux camera or 360 trailer camera, not the mirror. The mirror camera is digital and a proprietary format, and connects using a Fakra connector.

Below is a link to my Amazon photo album entitled "2024.04 - RAM TSVCS" (I installed the TSVCS in 04/24). It includes photos of my wiring runs for each camera as well as a bunch of photos & a video working thru the various issues I had using AlfaOBD to activate the TSVCM setting in my truck. I couldn't have done it without the great help I got from members on this forum including @Jimmy07 and @CortexM0.

It would make more scene if I walk you thru the pictures over the phone. I'll send you a PM.
Hey is there a how-to post associated with these pics? I have my system now and I get the general gist of it... but anything you can provide would be helpful!

That is correct and one of the biggest draw backs of that system. Unfortunately because of the low voltage and method in which information is processed a wireless solution is all but impossible on these newer vehicles when going through the Fakra connections. Main reason why I've been chasing after this 12-pin connection off and on over the past several years.

Good morning, that is correct. the kit will also include a couple different mounting options for the camera as well as a couple different ways to power it. I can email you additional information if you would like?

Hey everyone. I have this 2022 Ram and trying to figure out what I need to do in order upgrade to the surround view trailer system. I don't seem to see a direct connection on the bumper that would go to the digital rear view mirror, but I do have the uconnect option to pick multiple cameras for the trailer. I'm just not sure how to connect anything or what parts to order and honestly I've been a little bit confused reading through the forum trying to figure it out. if anyone can help that would be awesome.

I did contact my dealer a few times trying to find out about an upgrade path through the parts and service department but I have never heard anything back from them.

I'd be happy with either the full surround or a way to tackle just a rearview camera into either a digital rear view mirror or the uconnect if possible. I'd rather not go the separate camera system mode unless I have to as I don't want to clutter everything when traveling.
@Jimmy07 , I've heard you are the expert!

I'd like to know more about this option as well for my 2022 3500 Limited

Afternoon, the option code for the Aux camera input should be XFQ. that will include the 12pin connection just above the 7-way that will send the image directly to your in-dash display. At max you'd be able to display 1-2 cameras depending on the checked off options. Anything going to the rear mirror will be a different connection (Fakra) located near the license plate and will not support a wireless option, the power output is too low and the FPD link system cannot communicate with a camera that has an internal processor. Hopefully this helps answer some questions.....more then likely will generate new ones, hahahaha.

Is your new camera on the website yet?

So, I'm wondering if there is a way to add the necessary components that would typically be installed with the XFQ option code. Replacing the connector with a 12 pin, running wires, adding camera controller module etc...

It sounds like you have the DRVM connector (tow mode camera) and not the 12-pin?

They are separate systems so it's not just replacing a cable. The DRVM is fed from the cargo cam housing (has the cargo and rearview cams) and bumper Fakra (coax) connector. The 12-pin is fed to the UC5 radio module.

RAM sold an XFQ kit at one time, at least for the HD trucks, @Phil T installed one in his 19 HD.

You really should review the camera stickies in the mod forum, and by all means, reach out to @Jimmy07 for help with an accurate parts list, options, and coding if you're looking to add or change things up.

IMHO, the DRVM Tow Mode Camera (wired) is a better option as it has always on display in the DRVM, and tilt, etc.

If your truck has surround, and the 12-pin, You can use Aux2 for an analog camera. Aux1 is expecting the Trailer CVPM surround feed though with AlfaOBD you can change it to show AUX1/AUX2 instead of trailer surround. Be aware any feed to the radio is going to go away after 8 seconds over 8MPH unless you install a box like the Naviks, so the trailer surround or analog camera is really only useful for backing without one. I believe TaserDT can also enable always on backup/trailer cams. No disrespect to them, but not sure if Infotainment offers anything similar.

Thanks for the info. I agree, I would rather go DRVM especially considering what you just pointed out. I don't have a connector for that either. It seems like that should be a cable I can run, but would definitely need help determining the parts. I wonder how much of the wiring in through the cab is run standard and just not connected to anything without the DRVM present.

Yes. I have both the 12/7-pin connector (on the right side of the license plate location) as well as a separate trailer camera connector-Fakra? (on the left side of the license plate location).
Because I also optioned the fifth wheel/gooseneck prep, I also have a 12/7-pin connector in the bed...but, no trailer camera connector in the bed.

What is the part number for this

What is the trailer tow backup camera kit PN for 2023 Ram? When I check this PN on Mopar site it says it is not compatible with my 2023 RAM 2500:

68527599AA

After reading through 50 pages of comments on the topic of the RAM 2022 Tow Mirror/Camera, I want to make sure I understand everyone's very helpful comments. I have a cab over camper that slides into my truck and want to add the rear view camera to the back of it to see behind when traveling. I have everything I need on the truck side to make this work. I'm cheap however and don't want to spend $600 on a camera and wire for the camper side of the connection. I have a spare camera, the same part number as the one for rear view mirror in my CHMSL, and I want to add a short length of cable from the rear of my truck to the camera I will install on my camper. It sounds like there isn't an option for buying an aftermarket cable in like a 10 of 15 foot length to go from my truck to the camera. Is this because the aux connector on the truck is proprietary? Can't I just unplug the Fakra connector on the back of the aux connector on the truck and get my own Fakra to Fakra cable to connect an aftermarket cable?
