What did you do TO your RAM today?

Started test fitting a little homemade project I started last week. This backyard experiment skid plate was inspired by CJC Off Road's shop truck. Not everyone's taste, but I like it a lot so far.

I need input on color. If I clean up the brushed aluminium, I think it may look nice without drawing away from the truck as an eyesore. However, night edition trucks and their matte black accessories.... So silver or matte black?

CJC makes an intercooler guard, but its not a skid plate...

Installed the Rugged wheel liners. Looks OK, but install was a royal PITA! Holes didn’t line up and I ended up resorting to redneck engineering(cut and trim) to get it to work. Even invented some new curse words! lol On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate it a 12. Funny that some plastic defeated me!

It’s a tight fit with some stress/flex points. You can see the bulge(exaggerated by the shadow, not as bad in person) where the bend in the frame is for the shock mount. Might rip it out this summer and find something else. Wish the OEM was deeper to cover the frame. It’s the reason I went aftermarket.

Overall, I’d give the Rugged Liner a 6 rating.

Whats the brand of these wheel liners?

More ground clearance in the middle?
Yep, a little more ground clearance.

The CJC brush guard is nice, but to me it makes the front end look ‘unfinished’, plus the fact it doesn’t really add any more protection for the intercooler makes it less appealing for the price.

I’ve seen some folks who have trimmed the regular valence, which isn’t a bad option either.

However if you order the PW/Rebel valence through the Mopar eStore it should be right around $60 if you have it shipped to a local dealer for pick up.

Be warned though, apparently they are on back order @deanfx got lucky, he order after me and his showed up before mine.

I’m still waiting lol.

I ran led bulbs in my halogen housings and they were great for me. I ended up going to a aftermarket projector housing because I kept getting flashed by people. Figure it was time to go projectors after soo many year of it. Here are the bulbs I used for quite few years in multiple vehicles, just make sure you adjust your headlight down they will be bright.

@Dinky503 did you have to trim anything to get the lamp to fit in the housing? Looking at the reviews and planning to order the whole setup for the front end of my truck. Owners of other brands mention the lamp not fitting but you didn’t say you had to so I’m assuming it’s good to go?

No I did not Trim anything at all, It is a tight fit for sure. 4th gen housings were way worse and had to heat and mold the caps.

Well, more like yesterday. I traded in my 2019 Ram 2500 Laramie Mega Cab for this 2024 Ram 2500 Longhorn Mega Cab down at Mark Dodge. Honestly, their prices can't be beat and they made it super easy, I was in and out in under an hour!

Ha! I bet it does look amazing, and I'm a bit jealous! But I'm also a fan of peanut butter lol
Well, it only took 11 years to get to this truck! I started off with a factory ordered 2013 Laramie Mega Cab Hemi, then traded to a 2016 Laramie Crew Cab 6.7L, then traded that to a 2019 Laramie Mega Cab 6.7L, and finally this truck. I've been really blessed with a fantastic career in the Air Force that allowed me the ability to pay off each truck relatively quickly. Now I start a new job in January with a new truck.
