Steering wheel controls stop working

That is fine and well, but I have zero confidence they will fix the truck, and I am annoyed that I continue having to be inconvenienced by bringing the truck back to be fixed over and over and over again.
I totally agree with you. I'm happy with my local dealer in general, have had a very long relationship with them, so this comment is not directed at them. But some dealers tend to not recognize just how inconvenient it is to bring vehicles back. We own them because we need them, dropping them at a dealer AGAIN is a huge problem at times.

Definitely a clockspring, I diag my truck, run a parts locater, print and take that with me, if they don't have the parts they will know who does.

They already replaced mine once or twice. Issue is resolved when I pick the truck up, and then the buttons stop working again at some point.

Does the EVIC switch on the left side of the steering wheel quit working also?

Yes. Only buttons that work is cruise on the right. All lights are out as well.

Another strange symptom of this I have noticed is that the heated wheel gets much hotter when the buttons are not working than it does when they are working. I am going to try and remember to temp it before and after. Its very noticeable though, almost burn your hands hot. I would definitely notice this, as I run heated seats and wheel all day every day - I run cold!

Mine was the same as your 1st sentence, only cruise worked, nothing else, no lighted buttons, no gear shift selector buttons. But, in my case the heated wheel was disabled as well, even though that switch it on the center controls or the radio screen controls.

Still working ok so far since the clock spring replacement ...

I had the SCM recall done on my truck 3 months ago. After replacement the steering controls have only stopped once since. Disconnected battery and it worked again.

Strange, no messages for it.

I am curious about the recall aspect of it. I just bought a 2023 Ram Limited 1500 4x4 with 22k-ish miles on it from a non- Ram Dealership. Issue just popped up 6 days after leaving the dealership. Steering wheel will not heat from any point to turn it on. The rear buttons on both sides of the steering wheel do not work, and the front buttons on the left side do not work, so you cannot view trip odometer, oil life bar etc...But the cruise control part all works fine? I watched a video last night on YT of a gent replacing the SCM, tedious but doable. When I enter my VIN on NHTSA the report back comes that there are no open recalls for my Truck. All that being said, I would hope that I am still covered under the 3 year/36k bumper to bumper? Thoughts and advice appreciated!

I had this same issue appear on my 2024 RAM today…at 7500 miles. Left side controls and lights on steering wheel not working. Controls on back of steering wheel not working. From my reading, this appears to be widespread. I plan to call my dealer tomorrow. Will post their response.

I'm very curious about the numbers, how many of us this is happening to. My dealer said mine was the 1st one they had seen, and I believe them. No idea how widespread it is. Is it something that eventually happens in many trucks? Or is it just those lucky few of us, yours happened early at 7500 miles, mine at over 60000 miles, seems pretty random.

I spoke with my dealer today. They said they had seen one of these issues before. I’m taking it in after Thanksgiving. I will post the result.

I had this issue tonight as well. 22k miles. I disconnected the batteries for about 30 mins. If it happens again, I'll take it to the dealer.
Are there any definite fixies for this issue? I can't seem to find one.

Nothing definite that anyone has figured out so far. Seems like a few people have luck with the battery disconnect and reconnect, a few like me with clock spring replacement fixing it for a while anyway, and some have had steering wheels replaced with no luck. It would be really nice if at some point we could figure out the failure point for sure, assuming it's the same on most of these.

Same issue. Truck is now a year old and has been into service 9 times for the buttons. Anyone on hear running a banks pedal monster? Dealer said they think it could be the problem?
I'm not running one, but ... that sounds to me like "your radio stopped working because you used green washer fluid". Meaning they don't know what is wrong with your wheel buttons so they find something non-Ram and decide to place the blame there. I highly doubt there is any impact from the pedal monster, all the rest of us have the same problem and no cause we can find so far.

I had this same issue intermittently after a few months of taking delivery of my 24. Took it to my dealer and below is a screenshot of the Tech's notes on what he discovered and the actions he took. In a nutshell, the service tech appeared to notice a loose connector to the left side of the steering wheel switches along with what reads like poor wiring management to the SCCM. He re-routed the connector wiring and reseated the loose switch connector and the issue hasn't resurfaced for me since. I've driven about 6K miles since I brought it in. Not sure this helps anyone, but could be a factory QC issue with a loose steering wheel switch connector/poor wiring management to the SCCM?

Crap, my heated steering wheel works intermittently. I'm out of warranty, bought the 2021 earlier this year. I hope I'm not right, but now I'm thinking that is why the prior owner traded the truck in. Technology is great until it isn't. I thought I did my research, deciding between a Superduty and RAM HD. It is such a beautiful truck, pulls good and drives so nice. I still want the honeymoon to continue. Will hang in there for awhile but time will tell.
