2024 Less than 200 miles leaking transfer case and squealing on startup

I completely agree, after 9 days at the dealer and only replacing the output seal, my transfer case is still leaking. Dropped it at a different dealer this morning so they can check it out Thursday. I’m 820 dollars into rental fees so far, plus my time, to repair an 80k dollar truck. I’ve only owned the truck for 3 months and 4600 miles. My case manager won’t call me back and I’m praying this dealer is good. They seemed nice and accommodating so far, unlike the dealer who didn’t repair it correctly despite me telling them the case appeared to be leaking as well. Frustrating to say the least. I’ve posted all about it over on the diesel forum. Never had these issues with Toyota. Making me second guess this purchase every day which sucks because I love the truck.
Had the same leak. My dealer replaced the whole transfer case because they said the two case halves were uneven and had bearing noise.

Wow, thanks for that info! How long did they have it? I noticed my tranny temp hitting high 190’s and a burning smell in the cabin after the initial repair. I hadn’t seen my tranny temp over about 167, unladen, prior to this fiasco.

Almost 3 weeks. But they didn’t look at for almost a week, and then took another week for parts to arrive, but also had a few other issues that had to be fixed.

Appreciate that info, glad you’re all fixed up. Hopefully they can get this fixed in a timely manner and I can return to being less disgruntled.

Update: my dealer acknowledge the transfer case output shaft seal leak and the transmission noise. They pulled the trans pan and said it was full of metal. Apparently waiting on an engineering response about rebuilding or replacing. I’m hoping replacing since the truck only has 1300 miles on it and I’ve only had it a week.

Unacceptable in my opinion. Sure puts a bad taste in your mouth especially if it’s your first HD Ram given the price of these trucks.

Can't imagine how many poor folks are dealing with the BS tranny seal leak that never are on this forum. Must be hundreds that we'll never hear of.

I guess you can add mine to the list.
I wiped everything dry yesterday morning. 100 miles later and it's back again.

Bought a new 2024 with 20 miles on it, Saturday 4/6/2024, left the dealership at 6:20pm with no issues (after their inspection I might add), and drove home approximately 40 miles. Got in it Sunday evening to go to church and on startup it began to squeal terribly. Drove it to church and after parking noticed that the squealing had lessened significantly. Got in to drive home after church and the same thing occurred. Took it back to the dealership Monday morning disgusted, asked that they please look at the vehicle to figure out the problem. They were kind enough to give me a loaner which, I am still driving by the way, because the truck is still in the shop. They found the issue to be the belt tensioner and pulley, but while there, they also noticed what they claimed to be a transmission leak. Upon further inspection 3 days later they concluded that the transfer case was leaking due to a bad seal. Parts will not be in until next week sometime. Needless to say, I am beyond frustrated and am totally blown away at the level of incompetence of these manufacturers and the apparent greed that eats them alive. No pride in what they are building and selling, just get it to the public we have to sell as many as possible for astronomical prices no less. Seems to be no quality control anymore because there is no accountability for the (crap) they are building and selling to the people.

Is anybody else having issues like this with these brand-new trucks?
Yep
I bought a 2024 with a Hemi and noticed it leaking at 7,000 miles althought it was leaking way before I noticed it. I traded that truck in at 7,400 miles and Bought a new Rebel with a Cummins and it is leaking with 480miles. I it scheduled for replacement now. Definitely a bad out of tolerance run of seals.

Mine started leaking around 8,000 kms. Put it in the shop November 1st and it's still there. Replacement seals to Canada are on back order. On top of that Canada post is on strike. Should arrive by the end of the week. Does anyone know if the replacement seal is the same seal initially installed, or an upgraded version?

I’m not sure if the seal is different, I would assume yes given the rampant failures, but so far so good with my second seal replacement. Good luck!

New 2024 RAM 3500HD Limited Diesel
- @ 1,000 miles the CAC hose blew off. Dealer replaced the hose, clamps and air filter which they said was crushed from the factory.
?? Potential the truck was sucking unfiltered air into the Turbo from the air filter
and then sucking unfiltered air into the throttle bodies when the CAC hose blew off - concerns??
- @ 2,000 miles noticed the Transfer Case Input shaft seal leaking. Seal is on back order and they don’t have an ETA. for completing the repairs.

This seems like a habitual problem with the input shaft. Any idea if there is the longer term issue of recurring leaks?

Some of us, including myself, have had the seal replaced a few times. My transfer case was also removed and re-sealed as it was leaking as well. Contact ram cares on here, Chris was very helpful. They may be able to help expedite the seal.

Must be a 2024 thing… my CPO 6.4 truck that I’ve had for under 1,000 miles and has roughly 5k on it has a Monday morning appointment.

A popular theory is a bad batch of seals. Most of us don't have a problem after it has been replaced (those of us fortunate to get replacements).
Good Luck!

Add mine to the list, as well. 2024 2500 6.4 with 247 miles rear seal leaking. Appointment made a week from now. Sad.

Update: Finally got the truck back from the dealership, seems that its all fixed.. will definitely monitor and keep updated.. total time at the dealers was over 2 & a half months waiting for parts. I dont blame the dealer, but this seems to be a pretty common thing? Any thoughts?

Mine took three days at the shop to get a drive line tech under her, when they finally did it was ready before lunch time. Rear output shaft seal replaced on the transfer case and fluid topped off.
