I don't have a picture handy of mine, but it is a '21 3500 SRW Cummins diesel, not the HO, Laramie trim with the long bed and 50-gal fuel tank. Payload is 3963 pounds. I pull a '21 Jayco Pinnacle 36FBTS fifth wheel with it, and very pleased with how it pulls. The Trailer max weight is 16,500 pounds but we travel fairly light, and I use the Andersen Ultimate hitch. At about 45 pounds, it is a breeze to put on/off the truck.

2023 Ram 3500 DRW, HO, Aisin, 2WD. Pulling 16,600 lb 5th wheel. TrailerSaver BD5D hitch, pulls like a breeze. 100X easier to pull than my old 2016 GMC Allison Denali.

Kind of curious what the difference is between your truck and mine. I have a '20 2500 6.4 CCSB 4WD Longhorn that's fully loaded, but has 100 lbs more payload 3047. I do have 18" wheels instead of the 20's like yours.
My only guess is possibly because I have the 5th wheel prep, so maybe some extra weight in those attachment points?

The CCC on my 2024 RAM 2500 Laramie Night Edition is 2119lbs. I called RAM tech support. ANYTHING I put in my truck or attached to it counts towards the 2119lbs CCC. Myself, my wife, my dog and 31 gallons of diesel weight 638lbs. That leaves 1481lbs of "stuff" I can load into the truck or attached to it, i.e. hitch/pin weight. I see and speak with people who are towing 41' 5th wheels with a RAM 2500. I look up the pin weight of their model and sometimes they show me the door jam sticker. They are so far over the CCC of the truck it's unbelievable. They say, "My 2500 will tow 20K pounds. True, it will. Get a 4-wheel flat trailer, load 20k lbs. of rocks on it, tie a rope from the trailer to the 2500's bumper, and down the road you can go. I spoke with a guy with an F250 Limited. He had a 37' 5th wheel. I saw his door jam sticker. CCC was 1960lbs. His pin weight was 2350lbs. With nothing in his F250 he was over the CCC, and he had no idea he was. I casually speak with people at campgrounds who are towing large 5th wheels or TT's. They have no idea about CCC.

Yep.
It is far and away the biggest lack of understanding of 5th wheel campers, especially. I have a ton of friends in that category. I've given up trying to talk to them. They just say "You Weight Police are annoying, nothing bad has happened". I'm convinced I'm in a Ram because my GMC 3500 dually broke down in umpteen places, and I'm sure because even though it was a Dually it only had 4,100 lbs of CCC. My pin weight is about 3500 lbs, as measured (not guessed). My model is an especially heavy pin weight and we've added pounds on top of that.

Our 5th wheel had a lot of additions and it was over, and I carry a lot of stuff. I added bigger wheels and tires, Independent Suspension, this and that, but the truck finally gave up the ghost. And I got this Ram. 4WD robs a ton of CCC. I was lucky to find a 2WD Ram 3500 Dually with Aisin and HO Cummins. The difference in feel while pulling is night and day. No strain.

I have a friend who is full time and he pulls exact camper as mine with a GMC 2500. You can't talk to him.

And on the other side of the coin, a LOT of these folks never seem to have a problem. Some tow a lot, too, and often in mountains. So I don't know how they get by with it. The pucker factor alone would kill me. LOL

The 2500’s limiting factor is the fact that Ram refuses to move above the 10,000 GVWR for their 3/4 ton trucks even though both Ford and GM have moved into 11,000 area. This is more of a classification thing than engineering. Ram needs to wake up and move into the next generation.

Axle ratings are what actually matters.
