There are TWO separate issues/questions here, and they’re slightly related. This may be more information than necessary but y’all seem to really like getting into the nitty gritty, so here goes. I’ll try to share as much as I can withoutWho did your quote come from?
My deal was somewhat timed right. I received the new msrp (truck built after MSRP drop as original msrp was like 90k). Mark dodge was doing around 12% off with affiliate at the time. I also got the 10% factory rebate too. So it turned an 80k msrp down to 62k and change before taxes/reg. I got the first responder 500 which wasted the doc free out.
Mark dodge is currently doing a higher dealer discount with the current orders that is about 2-4k better than what I got. However, there is a very small factory rebate compared to my 8k off, currently I think its 1-2k max....
You could be able to Get a truck like mine from mark dodge for 67k-ish before taxes and reg...
ORDER PRICING VS INSTOCK 90% of the time, ordering from Mark Dodge gets a better discount than taking an instock unit. In this particular instance, RAM has reversed the incentives so we actually get a known amount when the vehicles ship, rather than sell. This is what allowed us to move from the standard 11% discount to what averages out around 14.5%. We’re predicting our incentive pool and spreading it on the orders. They’re putting the dealers in charge of where to spend the incentive money, instead of pigeon-holing us into better deals on Bighorns than Limiteds, we can make our own mix and add it to our dealer discount in a way. It’s pretty sweet for us since we’re ordering in advance, not dealing with rotting stock on lot – we now have a little more control. You’ll still see occasional tiered smaller rebates from RAM as well but the lion’s share of the $ is going into this “stock & promote” program.
Now on TOP of that, Ram this month put out another incentive for these coupons that are distributed THIS month but must be USED this month by the dealership. We get a certain # of them, and when they’re gone the online pricing will be back to normal ranges, which were about the same as orders for the month of May. This one was pretty aggressive, I think most of the time it will be a bit smaller, but it will drive some volatility to instock pricing. We’re going to try to order and have plenty of instock units to choose from, but keep in mind that the pricing on instocks is NOT lockable, it’s either sold or it’s available – and the price online may be slightly off from one day to the next with these changes. Literally these are coupons, and we have a certain number of them – that expire July 1st and were initiated today.
ORDER PRICING VS PRIOR ORDER PRICING this is just a function of Ram changing the pricing and the rebates at the same time, take a walk down memory lane and you’ll see that this particular build is better off today than when the 21% was active.
We can’t count the people who got the 21% and the price drop, because that was only 4 days worth of ordering by sheer luck, nothing what we knew about or advertised.
