Hi all. I own a 2024 2500. One of my options is the trailer camera that you install @ the rear of a trailer and you can see what's back there thru my digital rearview mirror. The kit is missing the 13' coax cable that goes from trailer connection box to the docking station on the rear of the truck. The kit that includes the docking station (which is already on my truck) is 68550632AA which is out of stock everywhere. Meanwhile, it's $166 and I only need the coax cable. Has anyone else had this issue and found a replacement cable? It looks like it's a coax with a unique connector to lock it in place. Thank you!

I would tell the dealer you are missing the cable and have them source one for you. For reference I believe the cable you are referring to is over 30 ft. long.

Already spoke to dealer. Can't find the cord anywhere. There are 2 cords. One connects the rear camera to the junction box which is 55' long. The other goes from the junction box to the connector on the rear of the truck. That one is 13' long. Both are shown in the instructions. Both are coax cables. Unfortunately, it's coax with a special connector so I can't just use normal coax.

@Jimmy07 may know about sourcing one or at least what the connector is.
That would be awesome if he can help me out. The kit which includes the connector for the RAM is around $166 and out of stock everywhere. I just need the stupid cord. The manufacturer installed the connector on the rear of my truck but didn't send me the cord.

If you have the camera kit listed on the window sticker showing that it was included in the build, received the box with the camera, mounting bracket, etc, and one cord is missing, I would get the dealer to pursue this with Ram Cares. You will never ever be able to order or buy this kit or any of the components in it from Ram. My 23 came with the wiring and port on the truck, but I could not get the camera kit, so I had to watch Ebay to find someone selling it because they did not want/need the kit that came with their new truck. I bought 2 kits, installed one and got the other for spare parts if anything broke.

Want to sell the cord that I need from your spare kit? BTW, can you send me a picture of the connectors on both sides of that 13' cord? I am trying to find a replacement. I already spoke to my dealer. He claims he needs to replace the entire kit with the docking station for the truck as they don't sell just the 13' cord and that kit isn't available anywhere.

My 22 came with this option. Assuming your truck came from the factory with the digital rear view mirror your truck should be good to go, should be as simple as plugging in the coax from camera into rear bumper and turning on your turn digital rear view. My 22 had the digital rear view mirror and a coax port on the rear bumper, I did not have to run a cable on the truck end... simply plug and play. My kit came with the camera, camera mount, and coax cable that runs from the camera and plugs into the bumper. My truck already had the connector on the bumper and as soon as I plugged the camera coax in it worked instantly.

If your window sticker lists this as an option the factory messed up by not installing the wiring on the truck end. Again, dealer needs to step up and fix this.

As much as I would like to help you out, I want to hang on the extra kit. I use my camera and want to be able to replace anything that might fail. The part number for the entire trailer kit is 68586112AA. Your dealer is partially correct in that the kit is not available anywhere, but the trailer wiring for the DRVM and port on the bumper are a separate kit entirely. They do not need to replace the truck wiring kit at all, so obtain another trailer kit 68586112AA from the factory. All they do is drop the box in the back seat before they ship the truck, as I am sure you already saw.

Otherwise, keep any eye on eBay. Prices vary and as soon as one shows up, buy it quickly or get a bid in and then watch until the auction ends. My first kit cost me $650, the second was a buy it now, and I lucked out with only paying $250.

The Fakra connections on each end of the cables are different and cannot be interchanged. The junction box that goes between the 2 cables is a repeater and must be used as well. I will take pics of each end in the order of connection for reference for you. FYI, I already tried searching for an aftermarket camera and cabling to use with my DVRM. No one makes the fakra connections that Ram uses. At least not yet.

My impression is that the truck wiring is there, what he is missing is one of 2 cables for the trailer kit that connects to the repeater, and then to the truck bumper port and the trailer camera.

Ziggy, 1st an foremost, thank you soooo much for all of your responses & help. It's great to see this type of help. I was asking for pics for that exact reason, finding a Fakra replacement myself. Maybe I will get lucky and they came out with one recently. I am even thinking of rigging something as I am going camping next Thursday and really want this camera to work as it's a 5 hour trip and I hate not seeing behind me. I had a Ford F350 with rear camera and recently changed over to RAM so I ordered the new camera along with new trailer tire sensors.

I have the instructions and part #'s sent to me from the dealer. It specifically says that the wire I need is part of a package that includes the docking station for the truck, screws for that docking station, and the 13' coax cable that I need. That part code is the 68550632AA. That is what I need. It's $166 discounted but not available anywhere. There seems to be no way to just buy the cable, unless, Fakra now makes it. Fingers crossed. Please send the pics.

If I can't find it and dealer can't find it, I guess it is what it is, no camera on next weekend trip. I am going to call RAM's 866# for further support to see what they can do.

Oh, FYI, I ordered this as an option with my new truck build. The manufacturer must of installed the docking station on the back of the truck as it came installed. But, they never put the 13' coax back in the box. Pisses me off as I should have this cord, yet I don't.

Thank you again Ziggy. It's great to see there are others like me out there. Social Media can really disappoint at times.

Thanks for clarifying, they must have changed the design of these kits. Mine did not come with a repeater/junction box as you all are describing above. The cable that hooks into my camera goes directly to the rear bumper on my truck.

Sure thing and you are correct. The 22 models did not have a repeater, only the 23 and up models do, and they are not backwards compatible with 22 or earlier trucks.

For the 2024 there are 2 cables. both are coax. One is 55' and runs from the repeater to the camera. The other is 13' and runs from the repeater to the docking station on the back of the truck next to the connector for the camera itself.

No problem, this is not an easy fix.

Also, you keep mentioning a docking station. If what you are talking about is the square port device in illustration 3, that's a blank dock that is attached to the trailer, not the truck. Its purpose is to plug the camera coax end into it when not in use, so it does not get damaged, when you hook up the trailer, you unplug from this port and into the live port on your bumper.

OK thanks. That is what my dealer told me that it's the docking station for the truck. Blank for the cord makes sense. So, basically, I am missing that entire kit #3. That's what I need.

Don't put too much faith in the dealer. When I bought my 23, I noticed the coax port on the bumper to the left and asked the dealer what is this for? They had no clue, none of them, sales, parts, or service. Now the truck also has the 360-camera port on the right, which I am very familiar with and knew it was not associated.

I learned after the purchase that my truck was already wired for the DVRM trailer camera and all I needed was the trailer kit. Then the pain began. Almost a year later and I finally got a kit, installed in on my trailer and plugged it in, and voila! I can see behind me in my Digital rearview mirror.

If you find the cable you need I will give you my blanking plate. I sold my truck and everything is still on my trailer. If the cables were backwards compatible I would hook you up but it sounds like my cable will not work.

LOL agreed. All I need is that damn cord. Don't forget to drop some pics of both ends please. Still hoping I get lucky. Curious, do you think I can use a regular coax and just tape it in or something?

I will work on the pics later this evening for you. And no, the cable is designed specifically for digital video signal and the Fakra connectors on the ends have specific ridges at different places within the round connector that do not allow them to be connected to other ports. Here is an illustration that shows the ridges in different positions. So they are not universal.
