I have never had to pull the front cover when towing the only time the truck has gotten above the normals temps for me is with the plow on as it redirects the wind

Redirecting airflow for aerodynamics mainly but they also dont block the whole rad like the winter front does

What’s the ambient temp?
You’re not towing, correct?
28° here this morning and I’m running 188-190° at 50-55.

In the owners manual it say acceptable ect range is 180-206 and short peaks of 225 is ok under towing conditions

That’s correct.
The thermostat is a 190° thermostat. It opens at 190°, goes full open at 207° and max allowable from Cummins is 225° and Ram says 245°.
200° for another flap open is just a good guideline to keep from running hotter than needed for the load.

I put mine on Thursday and did some town driving. I did a 2 hr drive yesterday with the ambient temps in the low 20's, all the shutters closed, about 50 gallons of fuel in my transfer tank, and had 3 passes with about 1500' of elevation change each. I had cleaned my MAP and MAF sensors and was trying to maintain RPM's in the 2200 range for the whole trip. The highest I saw the ECT get was 208 and that was only for a moment. I did go into a regen that took about 30 minutes. FWIW, my overall impression is this might be a very slight improvement to the regen issue, but I seriously don't believe FCA is going to figure this one out to anyone's satisfaction.
