Made it’s maiden voyage 5.5 hours, only down shifted once to climb a steep bridge, but other than that it was night and day difference from my 07 Chevy duramax! Trip back home in a couple days and will have to remind myself to fill the front water tank of the camper to offset the weight in the back to keep the little bit of sway down! Averaged 10.9mpg!!

I’ve made that similar drive a couple times from WI to AK and back. Quite the drive!

The first time we drove straight through, only stopping for fuel and food. 3 day trip. Here we are right outside Haines Junction..

We did the drive to and from Alaska from the southeastern part of the US (4 one way trips) from 1995 to 2000. The picture is Dec 1999 and was the shortest trip 8 days and one day I only drove 225 miles.

This is a long shot, but is that the KOA at Cape Hatteras OBX?

6.5 diesel. What a sweet truck! Ive had a few, miss them all.
 
This was July 17 with Mt Shasta in the background heading north on 97 in CA. Towing a 1973 International 1310 with an Alaskan camper and Halldon bed that was ordered that way by the original owner to drive the Alaska Highway for his retirement, yes he did and died from a heart attack after he got back. Odometer has 14934 miles on it which judging by the interior very well could be original.20230717_170024.jpg

May just be the camera angle, but it looks like the back axle of the international is at the back bumper of the truck? Either way, very cool vintage "overland" type truck!
 
Heavy load beginning of April 2022, from near Willow Creek CA where I grew up to home in Post Falls ID. I went across the scales just before Grants Pass OR on 199 and was just under 26k lbs with 1/2 tank of diesel. I was thinking of where the scales were on my way back and calculating how much diesel weighs per gallon because I'm registered for 26k lbs. I don't go through scales with my personal truck but have a Class A CDL and go through them multiple times a week in the work truck. I haven't been chased down in this truck yet and made to go back and weigh but have in other personal trucks.
