Our 2020 Ram 2500 Crew Cab has a terrible setup to anchor a Car Seat behind the rear seat it uses straps.

Has anyone tried to place an anchor point either on the back cab wall or on the floor behind the rear seat?

That strap is crash tested. I wouldn’t trust something that hasn’t been.

That's just for the top, there are hard anchors for the seat base that are primary.

The "strap" is no different than a seatbelt or the strap that's on the car seat. You're also supposed to go through that strap to an adjacent strap for hookup. Examples are in the OM.

I see a lot of posts complaining someone can't get the top strap tight enough and it's because they're doing it wrong.

The system is LATCH-compatible and crash certified.

"LATCH-compatible child restraint systems will
be equipped with a rigid bar or a flexible strap
on each side."

I guess I never read the owners manual, thanks for that information.
My 2022 megacab as well as my 2013 (I think) has the anchor point on the back wall, unless I'm doing that wrong too.

Can you post a picture of the back wall anchor on your mega cab?

With my rear seats being modified to fold down I think it would be possible to mount an anchor point on the back wall.

It’s pretty much just a change of direction for that anchor point. Seems to make it a bit easier to tension imho. I use it for a seat when we are on our family camping trips.

You’re really playing with fire there. You’ll have no idea if whatever you mount (or what you mount it to) will survive crash forces. Do you really want to risk a kid’s life because you don’t like the mounting method they chose?

Never knew that’s how those straps worked….I will feel much better doing it the right way now. Although with 3 car seats in the back row, it will be a spider web of straps.

3 car seats that sounds painful! Lol
