What r u guys running psi?

That's really low compared to all the other posts here. I went to 65/70
Regardless of the other posts if you use actual inflation charts for the unloaded weight 45F and 35-40R is safe. I run 45/45 unloaded as my “unloaded” has tools and other gear in the box of the truck tire wear is perfectly flat across the tread as it should be

What if I weigh 200lbs. Is that still unloaded?

Jk. Lol

I ran 45 and 45 in my Nitto ridge grapplers all last fall during hunting season. Floated down the gravel roads like a Cadillac. Went back to 55 psi to experiment with mileage with no discerns em improvement. Will be dropping back down to 45 / 45 for a short trip coming up.

Just redid mine as tires were wearing in the middle only. Dropped them down to 35/30cold.
They get to about 40/35 once they get up to temp.

55/35 are my empty pressures. That works for OEM 18 and 20” sizes.

I’ll drop to 50/30 when it’s cold and snowy out, but I increase back to 55/35 if I’ll be doing any long highway drives at speed.

40/20 empty on dirt roads, but that’s technically under inflated which is fine on rough roads under 25 mph.

Know your weights and use a chart. The toyo chart is the most comprehensive one I’ve found.

Stock size?

The lightest I’ve seen my front axle weigh was 5140 with a bit of tongue weight. The new empty weight was 5260. I know the Aisin, sway bar, and emission stuff add up… but 45 still seems low to me at 4,940 for 18’s and 4,820 for 20’s.

If you haven’t weighed your truck yet, I would before running 45 in the fronts down the highway/interstate. By the time you add a driver and anything in the cab most CC CTD trucks weigh more on the front axle than 45 psi is rated to hold.

There is no Cat scale around me (300miles away) only the scale at my local dump so i have been going by that so it must not be very accurate as i was getting 2175KG with the front axle on my way out usually so it must be wrong and perhaps i should bump up to 50PSI front when unloaded! Thanks for catching that.

Yeah that seems light, unless you had a bunch of tongue weight applied.

5 psi likely won’t hurt the ride, but should run cooler if your at higher speeds.

Im not worried about the ride the only reason i change my pressures is tread life lol.

I go for both, since the best ride and best tread life generally happen at the same pressure. That and you’re less susceptible to road hazards vs placard pressure all the time, and have better traction.

Oh i get that i just mean i am used to the roughness from all the machines and equipment i have run over the years so the ride quality is not my goal lol

If I go by actual axle weight and the PSI charts fir my 35x12.50 17s, I should be running like 30/25 PSI.
I lowered mine to 35/30 cold for better wear. They hit 42/37 when hot from running on the freeway for a while.

So what pressure do you's or would you's use when pulling your 5th wheels ?

Depends on what else I have in the bed. For just my 5th wheel and an empty bed I normally run 65/65. It's more air than is needed up front, but I like the way the truck handles the load better in corners with a little more weight loaded.

65/80 isn't uncommon if I am loaded for a camping trip as I often end up right around 7K RAW and 12.3K GVW.

New to the HD , just got a 2022 ,6.4 Bighorn from Rebel 1500. On the 1500 if you run more than 20% lower tire pressure than the door jam recommends it sets off the TPMS light. For you guys running 50 psi or less is your TPMS light coming on ? Thx.

2500 or 3500?

3500's have TPIS and won't ever set off a warning.

2500's have a warning like the 1500, but I don't know the threshold. You can edit it with AlfaOBD too.

If the same as 1500, 20% window, my door jam is 65 frt, 70 rear, TPMS light would come on at anything less than 52 psi. I would like to run 50ish frt/back. So are your TPMS lights on under 52 psi ? Thx.

They will be if you don't lower the pressure limit on the computer…
