New recall 11/10/2022 for the 68RFE ** UPDATED INFO IN 1ST POST **

Since my dealer would not return the OEM dipstick to me I ended up ordering the Suncoast dipstick so I can check fluid level on my transmission when I install the Revmax valve body and Revmax pan on my truck if they would ever get the 6 new injectors and new DPF installed without fuel leaks. I was supposed to get it back last Friday but one of the fuel lines going into the injector tubes was leaking after install.

Recently noticed this recall on my dashboard. Checked the dipstick in my ‘21; which was covered in smoke sit and upon initial inspection smelled burnt and left black residue on the shop rag. Coincidently, my transmission just lost reverse. Not sure what to do, my service advisor said Chrysler would not warrant it because she’s tuned & deleted.
Are you sure it’s not soot from one of your blockoff plates from deleting leaking exhaust onto it?

The Suncoast dip stick isn't the correct length for the 19 and newer trucks. On the Suncoast web site it says only for 2018 and older. It's a little longer and the marks are wrong. I added the correct marks and use it in my 21 (extra length isn't an issue).

Is it my understanding that they are also giving supplemental or replacement pages to the owners manual? Since checking the transmission fluid level is now off the table for owners because of the new design. Or are we just to rip those out of the OEM manual?

I just noticed that the online manuals from Mopar have already been updated:

Note:
Oil level check can only be performed with the 44 inch dipstick blade with oil level indicator holes. If the vehicle is equipped with the 15 inch dipstick then a service dipstick will be required to check the oil.

The dealer called today to set up an appointment to have recall done. I asked about retaining original dipstick, and they responded with, "we are required to send it back to Ram". When I asked about checking fluid level with new shorter dipstick, they said, "we change the tube also, so you'll be able to check your own fluid level".
I smell something odd.

They have no clue what they are saying obviously. The Recall clearly states they destroy the dipstick not send it back and they DO NOT change the tube they may be mistaking the vent tube for the dipstick tube with their info.

Just keep your old dipstick they cant take the dipstick if its not left in the truck

Thanks @Jay P, Before I took my truck in for the recall I took pictures of the OEM length to compare to the Suncoast, Looks like on the Suncoast at least on my truck I will need to use the bend at 1050mm as my full mark and the Suncoast I have measures 44" long. While picking up my truck today the service manager showed me a document from Ram that came out in February about the dealers needing to collect the OEM dipstick from us owners during the recall.

LOL... I took the same pics and drilled holes in the suncoast dip stick.

Just over three weeks ago I made an appointment with local dealer - Larry Miller - to take care of the tailgate & tranny dipstick recalls. That's about how long it's taking to get a service appointment for nearly anything! So, when I arrived I was told they didn't have the parts to do the tranny recall. But, they could order the parts if - and only if - I had the tailgate recall done at that time. I was more than irritated, as just yesterday they called to confirm my appointment! Since I'm having no issues with the tailgate, I decided to leave.

What added fuel to the fire was the service writer told me to call them back periodically to see if they have the parts in. I thought this was more than ridiculous, as I'd had an appointment for nearly one month, there was no mention about the 'unavailability' of parts, and they would not commit to ordering the tranny recall parts unless I had them do the tailgate recall first.

RAM CARES - DID YOU GET ANY OF THIS?

Remember to tag people use the @ before the name @RamCares

Also thats so crooked saying they will only order parts if you have the tailgate strikers adjusted

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oops, I guess it fell out on the way over here.

What kills me is they obviously have a long stick that also has the sealing end.

Yeah, that seems to the new reality of Ram service. If they have to order something for our vehicles under warranty, we have learned to call the parts dept to make sure the part is on the shelf before making a follow up appt.

I think this recall is a breach of contract… that being my expectation that when I bought the truck I would have a dipstick with the intended purpose of checking the transmission fluid. I think that people are just not complaining enough… so they can get away with a fix that denies you the right to check the fluid levels even though you paid for that expectation.

A fix that denies the reasonable use of the truck as originally agreed upon is not acceptable.

Keep the other stick at home when you go for the recall

There’s a part number on the original dipstick you can order a replacement from Mopar or purchase one from eBay. As stated in previous post just remove dipstick before having recall performed.

Left the house @ 0842.
Pulled over a block from the dealer, lifted the hood and removed tranny dipstick, layed id the bed.
Arrived at the dealer @ 0857 for my 0900 appointment.
I was told, it would take 15 minutes. Took a walk up and down the street, and returned. They had work order printed out and my key fob on the counter.
Told me to have a nice day.
End of story.
