Convex Main Mirror Upgrade?

I feel like my 2022 mirrors have the same viewing angle/range as my '18 did, they both suck, so hopefully the new glass from suma will be an improvement if it ever ships

I feel like there is a big difference in my ‘18 and ‘22, and I couldn’t figure out what it was until I saw this thread.

I really notice the difference backing my 5th wheel into the driveway.

I’ve had a 2010, 2015, and 2017 in quick succession (2015 & 2017 concurrently), all with tow mirrors. The 2017 came with manual fold, then installed 2017 power folds, and now it has 2022 power folds. The passenger side glass views are all the same.
Besides that, if a vehicle manufacturer uses glass that is not flat in the passenger mirror, then it must be engraved with “objects in mirror are closer…”. I’ve never seen a passenger 4th gen tow mirror with that warning.

Something is different on the ‘22, I noticed it on the test drive. It simply doesn’t show as much. I’ve adjusted the ‘22 mirrors while backing, something I never had to do in over 3 years with the ‘18. I really haven’t taken the ‘22 anywhere the ‘18 didn’t go. I wonder what it is, if it’s not the mirror.

Did you get shorter?

Did you get shorter?

Shorter what? Bed? If so no, all 3 of my Cummins have been 4 door long beds.

I do miss the 3rd Gen mirrors, I still think they were better than either of my 4th gens.

He ment hight id assume? I dont mind the mirrors on my 19 much better than my 2nd/3rd gen mirrors

lol, me personally. Nope, still hanging tight at 6’4”.

There has to be something, it’s literally been since the day of delivery that it’s felt off. I’m more use to it, but do adjust it and work around it.. but it’s not the same as the ‘18.

I mean you physically, like so you can’t see the mirrors as well now. :D

@Jimmy07 do you think will be able to operate the new 2023 Rebel HD side mirror with their extendibility function on a 2020 RAM Cummins HO 3500 Laramie ? im interested to buy a set once available.

He commented on another thread and the simple answer is no.
I'm sure he will respond with a more technical answer

It won’t be easy. Need the mirrors, switch, new door modules, new memory seat module (they control the telescoping feature), conversion harnesses for that running wires into both doors, a 2023 BCM, and a way to program it to work on a pre-2023 ram.

While the mirrors still suck, I guess I am sort of getting used to them a little more by now. I was looking forward to getting these mirrors once they are out and everyone has a chance to use them, but maybe I will get a set of those stick on mirrors mentioned earlier in this thread to see if they help. It seems like I use the convex mirror more than the big mirror anyways since I can see everything in it, albeit quite small.
