Hi to all I’m new to the site. When I engage the exhaust brake it has started to sound different. To me it sounds like the turbo has opened a bit. All is working as it should. Any ideas?

Any recent reflashes or services at the dealer done?

Just got a code for down stream Nox sensor. I’ll be changing that soon

It sounds like the exhaust brake is kicking in but I hear this when at idle.

Have you checked for exhaust leaks around the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe?

just to confirm this is when you are driving/hauling and the brake comes on as you go to slow down?

In park not towing. At idle after pushing the exhaust brake button once. It sounds normal for the Cummins before the button is pushed.

Does the turbo actuator either work or not or can it not work properly?

The actuator will usually set a code if it’s malfunctioning. Is this the first start of the day or anytime you push the button?

That’s strange, I don’t have any other help for you, but if you figure it out I’d be interested of the cause.

Have you hooked up a capable code reader like alfaobd? That will help you pull codes that a cheeper scanner will not read.
