Expected MPG: 6.4/3.73

That is pretty good. My 2016 2500 (Elvira), 6.4L, Crew Cab , 6'-4" bed, 4X4, had 37,000 miles on it when I bought it Dec. 9th, 2021. She now has just a tick over 40,000. I am getting about 13-1/2 MPG running around town, to work, etc., around 18 - 20 highway, and about 9 MPG towing 30' camper, about 6500 lbs.

Pulled my 10K TT thru NE Alabama and NW Georgia last week...7.5mpg. 45-55mph, one section was a 13% grade for 3 miles (descent). Tried 91 octane on the way over, no difference in mpg. Not bad, considering the elevation changes and curves. 6.4 was working though.

Quick run to Nashville this morning, about 170 miles round-trip, mostly I-65, between 70-75mph. Filled up and reset the computer at the start of the trip. Lie o meter is usually 1 mpg optimistic, so 17ish mpg.

Drove from Richmond, VA to Holden Beach, NC about a month ago. Kept the cruise on the speed limit (55, 65 & 70) and averaged 18.5 mpg, 3/4 tank to get there. Not bad for a 3/4 ton truck, but I did not do the math on miles driven and gallons to fill back up, I was pretty happy with that. I usually get 15.5 - 16.5 on around town driving.

Will be heading out on a long road trip from Wash state to Alabama and back beginning next week ~2,700 miles each way. The truck has 11,000 miles on it now so should be completely settled in. Will report back with best and worst mileage.

I don’t know how some of you are achieving those numbers! This thread is for gas 6.4s with 3.73 rear axle yes? Some of those numbers sound like diesels…

If I’m full-on highway only I can eek out 17-18 if the wind hits just right….

14-14.5 combo highway and around town

11.5-12 around town

9.5-10 towing (7K lb trailer) highway with tow haul engaged (and sometimes cruise control)

7.5-8 towing backroads

I still have less than 5K on the truck and am hoping at 15K I get the improvements others have mentioned…

Best I got was on a round trip Charlotte to Philly, roughly 560 miles each way. Averaged 18.3 going to Philly, and 17.6 driving back. Hand calculated with Fuelly app. I had about 1000 lbs worth of stuff in the bed on the way back.
