So I recently bought a brand new 2022 2500 ram 6.7 and right at 1500 miles it all of the sudden would not start. Got it towed to the dealer I bought it from and they told me it was the starter and it would take 5-10 days to get the new one. Of course that's absolutely ridiculous for a new vehicle, and they couldn't even give me a rental truck, all they had was jeeps. Anyway, it's been 9 days and now they tell me that they don't know when he part will come, apparently the manufacturer may not have even shipped it yet. Does anyone have any info/advice on this situation?

No info or advice but I have read a few threads where members had their starters fail. Sounds like RAM received a bad batch.

Just called the dealer again. They won't even consider getting the starter repaired at a local shop.

Due to warranty. FCA will not cover the cost to rebuild.
I figured that was why. You would think they could make a exception though. If it sits at the dealer for a month, waiting on a part, then the truck would be considered a lemon and they would have to buy it back. Not that I want that to happen. I just want a working truck.

This brings back bad memories.. Here's a thread with the soap opera I had. Long story short, I called around to dealerships that had one and had it sent to the dealer my truck was at since they were freaking incompetent. There might be some terminology or something in there that might help it along.

This exact same thing just happened to me. Bad starter. Took two weeks to get. Swapped it out in an hour and I got the truck back.

MOPAR has it and is it expensive!

Decided to just order the ebay starter. Should be here by end of week. Hopefully they will still get it done first and I will have an extra for later.

If the new one you get isn't from whatever this bad batch is then I doubt you'll need the extra starter for a decade or 100K. I usually see them go out at 150-250K. You could probably even return the eBay starter if they get it done. If they don't get it done are you gonna install in the dealer parking lot or something?

Where is Ram Cares ???? Seems they could resolve this quickly . If Mopar is selling them on line I don't understand the dealer having a problem .

Just because it is listed does not mean they have stock unfortunately

I'll keep it for the peace of mind either way. I plan to just walk into the dealer and give it to them. If they won't replace it then I will just do it in the lot. I personally hate the idea of making a scene, but I might have to.

Hopefully it works out. Way I saw it was this is a brand new truck and they needed to fix this under warranty. Did you find out if your truck was "V. O. R. 'ed" like in my thread?

I didn't bother asking. Called again and they told me it would be there this week. I don't fully believe that though so I'm not going to cancel my order yet.

Still not in, apparently they get a truck from a warehouse every morning, they just don't know when the part will be on it. If FedEx pulls through then I will have the ebay starter tonight . I'll have to miss some work but I'll walk in with the part first thing in the morning (after bench testing it myself).

I decided to check Google reviews and unsurprisingly this dealer service department is the worst rated in the area. I won't be going there again.
