REFERENCE: 2019+ Power Wagon Armor

It's actually that transfer of load that caught my eye. Frame-mounted is not my favorite system. 6 feet of surface area and 30+ mounting points to distribute the load are going to be stronger. They sit 3 inches higher so they are also a lot less likely to be used. But it's those 30+ rivets that are turning me off. That's a lot of holes to drill in a 75k truck.
I'll look for the youtube vid. The pics on the website are not very clear.
Thanks!

A proper frame-mounted slider will still use the entire pinch weld to distribute the load since the slider sits below the pinch weld. I looked at the Ellis stuff for my previous truck, but I want a step and a kick out on my slider. I've used the kick out a lot for a step to reach my rack as well as to pivot this boat around rocks.

Also, if you decide to go with the Ellis slider, make sure you take steps to mitigate rust from all those holes you're going to drill....

Yeah, there is no way I'm drilling that many holes in the body. I did it on my JL, but its a Jeep. Maybe in a few years

Agreed on all points with this. If you're really hammering trails with your rig I don't think there is any substitute for frame mounted rails with kickout. The challenge for most people is probably need for frame mounted rails vs a need for anything. I'd say there are probably the least amount of people who need the in-between of the RED sliders. I think the RED sliders are probably just as strong as the frame sliders, or say 90% as strong, but the bigger issue is on hard hits, you're likely to rip a body mount bolt out.

Onto the topic of Dethloff trans skid plates, man am I excited for those. I'm really hoping that Dethloff took into account the deep pan replacement!

I agree, the vast majority of people won't need any sliders at all. I wish I didn't need them because I prefer the look of no step or slider. The RED slider with no hoop looks better, but just not as functional for me.

The drawback of my frame-mounted ones (white knuckle off road) is that they sit about 1" below the pinch weld. I wish they were closer. Either the frame or the slider would have to flex for it to actually touch the pinch weld. Obviously, you don't want your frame flexing that much. I've banged on mine pretty good and I'm pretty sure it's never flexed to where it hit the pinch weld (would see the marks on the slider from it). I've never supported the weight of the truck from the sliders with the wheels off the ground. I've seen some of the "Power Wagons in Moab" guys do it though and take some huge hits using white knuckle.

The trans skid has taken hits too and I've been very happy with it. This spring I'll get under the truck and put another coat of paint on my skids and sliders.
Pro tip: If you actually plan on using your protection don't pay the extra for the powder coating. Get it as bare metal and paint it yourself. Rustoleum spray-in bed liner is a perfect match for our OEM bumper color and texture.

Depends…I prefer p/c because it’s more durable against corrosion long term than a rattle can job…then I just touch up scrapes where needed with a rattle can.

yup me too.

Anyone with the CJC shock guards find them worth it?

Also assuming the stock shocks take the smallest size?

If you don't have reservoirs it seems like a waste to me.

Hard to say if they are worth it. Mine are a little beaten up but nothing insane. I felt like they are worth the peace of mind because I've got finned resis, but ymmv.

Still no Dethloff oil pan/tranny guard.
:(((
It's on my homescreen, check daily...
Lol agreed. I’m on his list to email when it’s ready. Want one sooo bad! I don’t even do any hard off reading! Just need the sexy factor and like knowing it’s there just in case

I have run out of things to do on this truck, that is the only thing left on the list so I am on their list.

Anyone hear anything from Dethloff? Emailed him a few days ago and hadn’t heard anything back. I’m sure I’m not the only annoying person pestering him lol. I just want him to take my money already!!!

Meh…hunt season is a long way off, won’t bang the truck up any before that.

Honestly, hope the dude is ok. Haven't seen him post to insta for over a year now. Those plates were supposed to be ready Q1 but haven't heard anything.

I heard back from Marcus at Dethloff and he's alive lol. Just super busy and behind with manufacturing.

Don't make me beg! Did he say anything about timeline? Assume you didn't ask about diesel armor.

haha no I asked about the gasser stuff.

An exact quote from his email

"Hey Justin!

I'm still working on them man, between manufacturing delays and being busy with production they aren't ready for launch. They're super close but giving ETA's this year is a little tough haha! "

The question is when they’re ready who gets the first one? And who will be the first to install/post pics?
