REFERENCE: 2019+ Power Wagon Armor

Does anyone know of any skid plates or other armor that covers the exhaust as well? More specifically, I'm looking for something to cover the catalytic converter if possible. I realize this is an odd request, but thefts of catalytic converters here on my side of Houston is out of control. Given how easy it is to get under the PW, I want to see if there's a way to protect the exhaust.

If you're that concerned I would just go by shop and ask them to put a very small spot well on the easiest to access bolts. If you need to remove the cat you can just use an angle grinder or even a Dremel to remove the spot weld. Make sure you only do it to the bolts you can access with whatever you'd use to remove the spot weld.

Had that issues with my F250.
3 times they tried, but failed.
After the 3rd time, I built my own skid plate to cover the Cat so they coukdnt get at it.
So far, they haven't tried to take mine. But I still worry about it.

That won't work as the thieves are using sawzall's to cut the cat's out. It's a very rough cut and will cause major damage to anything near the pipes - like the driveshaft for us. My mom had her cat stolen last year along with 20 other cars in her hotel parking lot. Geico totaled her car rather than fix it. Granted, she had a Honda CRV, but the point is these people aren't spending a lot of time under cars and being careful not to damage anything in the process. They're typically going in and removing as many cats as they can from a parking lot as possible in 20 mins or less. You'd be surprised at how fast they can get in and out with this stuff.

I read of a shop in Detroit that is welding rebar along the sides of the cat. Sawzalls can't cut through the rebar, or whatever they are using. Shop owner gave a demo of the saw not being able to cut through. Sorry don't remember the exact details.

Yep, Heavy duty battery powered sawzalls. Delta and Milwaukie. New blades. In and out in less than 2 min.

Biggest target is Prius and F250's as they have the most precocious metals in them. F250 is quick and easy.
Prius they have to jack them up. Guy got crushed in L.A. when the jack fell. Partner took the jack and left him there to be found in the morning.

First time they tried to get mine was at 9AM on a Sunday morning. truck sitting out in front of the house. I happened to be working on the windows on the side of the house. Heard a bunch of noise and finally went out front to see what was going on.
2 guys under the truck with Sawzalls. Once each as mentioned above. They got the Cat cut out. But I went into retired Navy Chief mode and they were ****ting their pants trying to get out from under the truck as I was coning after them. They left the cat on the ground under the truck. I was able to slam one of their heads in the door of the van as he was trying to climb back into. Looked like a bunch of tweakers. Tags on the van were from a town over 100 miles away and had ben expired for over a year.

Second time was 9PM. Wife heard a noise and as she went to look out, the motion sensor lit up the street beside the house where the truck was. They got it cut half way thru. After that, I welded some 3/8" rod from the cat to the frame. But it caused a bad drone due to no isolation from the truck. But they tried a 3rd time at 3:30 AM. Wound up on one of the welds of reattaching the Cat. Hard steel to cut thru. Turned on the porch light as I was headed out and they ran.

They make shields for the Prius, but not the F250. So I made a "skid plate" that went from the front cross member back to past the Cat. Frame rail to frame rail. So it protected the Cat, T case, drive shaft and part of the gas tank. It bolted in to the frame rails.

I may do something similar for the RAM. Just got to get the time.

Sucks that you've had to deal with losers like that. That's the type of plate I'm hoping to find for my PW. I'd love to just "cover" a large swath of the undercarriage to be safe. Let the tweakers have fun trying to get thru that. lol

Need a near by hog farm......

Just thought I’d add to this thread.

I talked with Maple Offroad today and they confirmed their Power Wagon Skidplate would fit up to 2021 even though their website listed it as up to 2019. I got on their order list

Why are the Dethloff Oil Pan/Transmission Guards so hard to get? The 1500 skids can be backorderd but not the 2500s. Slim margins or a pain to manufacture? Anyone email them and get on a backorder? I did not see an option to be notified when they are back in stock.

I was wondering the same, earlier in the thread someone mentioned it also doesnt work with the 2021 maybe they are redesigning? Either way I wish there were more options available to us.

I talked with them and they are currently developing a different plate that fits the 20's and up. If you email them they will get you on a list so that when they are ready they will sell them to you. I did not get any real ETA however but I got on their list.

Yeah I think they're really busy. I called and left a message and got a call back.

Just an update... spoke to Dethloff's owner last night and the new transmission guard is in the works. If you check the link on the front page of this thread you will see there are updates to the site...An update is coming, just be patient and put your $$ to the side for its eventual release. I was not going to say anything until he posted an update but he is on top of it!! Great guy too!

Just got to be patient man, I find a lot of grown men here in this forum don't have that. Lots of money to piss but no brains. It is not easy running a business, especially one in demand and then add in the material issues. If his product has a good reputation in the past then why rush a good thing? My message isn't directed at you , as most of the impatient mindset I see on the order threads thinking they can order a truck and have it yesterday. Respect is a two way street and this owner could just say screw us I'm not developing a new polished product.
We want to buy American and keep American manufacturing going so let's keep positive support for a small American business.

I'm excited about the update. I see there are some updates to his website so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will be close to the date claimed on the site.

I have their gen 1 plate. Interested in seeing the improvements they make. I think the current gen plate is fine. Perhaps if they make it a single piece (instead of two) and change the install of the two front posts that would be an improvement.

Edit: Looks like RAM changed something under the trucks and skid plates don't work in the newer trucks.
