Honking - chirping - 3 three horn beeps honks chirps - when I leave my vehicle - merged threads

Ok, So the horn lowering is NOT to lower the volume of the chirps. It is to turn off the Horn Chirp when lowering the air suspension via your FOB.

Damn it.

I'd stick that dang horn on a relay that is only powered on when the ignition is turned on.

Another good use case for Aux switches...
I suggested that earlier but I wouldn't want to give up an Aux if it was mine.
Well, that's when it chirps. When you leave it running and leave with the FOB.
Yeah, you are right. For some reason, I thought we were still talking about the horn honk when doing a remote start.

I just got back from lunch with some friends. His 2022 just honked when he started it. Not sure why since we were in the truck and he started normally. Glad I only have to worry about an HP fuel pump disaster with mine..... LOL

Most of the manufacturers have added this "safety" feature now. I know many new Fords have the feature. Somebody probably parked their car in the garage, went inside and the carbon monoxide killed their hamster. As a result of the million dollar lawsuit you now have the 3 safety chirps.

Except with Ford you can turn it off with FORSCAN.

My '22 Bighorn has power fold mirrors. Also, looks like I'll be leaving the spare fob in the truck, the 3 beeps irritates the crap out of me (and the neighbors).
Obviously, your truck was ordered before mid-September. My October-ordered Laramie does not. I'm not keen on leaving the spare fob in the truck, my luck something would happen to the other one where I'd need it and it would be locked in the truck. I guess I'll just have to try to remember not to close the drivers' door when I'm jockeying around in the campgrounds.

I’ve resorted to leaving my door open when getting the mail, tossing a bag at the transfer station, hooking up the trailer. Otherwise, I shut the truck off.

Can a third FOB be programed to the truck without not being able to start the truck? Just something to keep the truck thinking a FOB is in the truck...I can see insurance denying a theft claim if the FOB is in the truck.

Did some experimenting with this today. If I leave my spare fob in the truck it will not beep the horn if I close the door when the truck is running, it will allow me to lock the door from the other fob in my pocket while it’s running and allow me to lock it when it is not running. So I’m leaving my second fob in the console for the time being. I have a bighorn without the door handle lock system so not sure if this would work with that setup.

I left my wife's FOB in the truck today and locked it while running. With my fob out of range the doors would not unlock with the passive entry.

It appears that buying a 3rd fob and leaving it in the truck would be a workaround, or am I missing something? Of course there's the expense, something like $100 for a fob?

I hope by the time my truck is built there's a fix for this, otherwise I'm disconnecting my horn

I plan to just leave my second fob in the truck and using the app to unlock as a backup

With y’all leaving your fobs in the car/truck. If a thief breaks a window and gets in the vehicle, they can start the vehicle and steal it? I’ve had that happen twice in Charlotte NC on a hotel parking lot (wasn’t ****ty hotels). I didn’t have a fob but they stole a lot of stuff from the truck including my check book. Emptied my checking account. Bank returned all the money but my point is, if you leave a fob in the car they probably will be able to steal it with them being in the car after getting in through the window.

You beat me to it, I was thinking the same thing.

They don't even need to break the window. Theives have gone hi-tech now. They use an amplifier relay system to boost the signal and use that unlock the vehicle. This has been going on for a while now. There are cheap systems and more sophisticated systems out there. I saw a video where they tested one. The keys were left on a table just inside the front door of the home. One person stood outside the door and the other near the car. A few seconds later the car was opened and started. I started putting my keys at the back of the house... LOL They make pouches and boxes to help prevent this too. Leaving a key in the vehicle to prevent a few chirps doesn't sound wise. But hey, just make sure you have good insurance if you do.

Cheap version...not a purchase link....LOL
