Silly question about back seats in crew cab

Ya ya...it's like guys who buy winches for their Jeeps and Trucks and never leave the pavement.
I just prefer to keep that stuff in the tool box...
I have my tow straps, ring shalckes, impact, sockets, bottle jack, compressor, charger for the impacts, box wrench set, etc...

Plus I don't have to listen to crap back there if it rattles hahaha
I’m with you, most of my stuff is in the bed in totes. Under the seat is stuff like a hoodie and a towel and frisbees and first aid kit you know, the essentials.

When you use your truck to pull your home I found that extra space is a luxury and the more the better. I think space behind the rear seat is a no brainer and ram should have incorporated it long ago. For those that think it is not safe I would say to actually measure the amount of steel that locks the back seat to the round existing brackets which by the way are the same size and then make a judgment. I wondered why I could never remove the back from day one with my truck. Seems like a trivial gripe when others sees the merit of extra space. I also know how to secure my stuff where movement doesn't bounce around or rattle.

I carry more tools on my truck than I in did this.

That's why I went with a long bed... Had to have room for the 50 gallon aux fuel tank, 5th wheel hitch and the low profile tool box.... The pin box goes right over the tool box. It's a little tight to get to with a 5ver hooked up but I can always drop it offI the truck if I need more room..

I have learned you back seat modders are sensitive about it....Nobody said it was unsafe....oh wait just one guy haha

Power Wagon does not come in a mega cab configuration.
I carry just what I need. Seats are still completely usable. No loss of seating comfort.
I dont have a bed tool box because I dont need one all the time. When I do go to places I might need tools and such, then I carry totes. But if I run into a situation where I need my winch gear, its always in the truck and ready.

You really like to push buttons don't you?

Never said it was "unsafe," that was your choice of words to prevaricate my comment. My post quoted below in case your memory needs a refresher. FWIW, seats ARE part of a vehicles occupant safety envelope and while I don't see cutting off the tab as an issue when seatbelts are in use, I do see raising the seat with a longer bolt (lever) simply stacked on some cheesy washers as a potential issue for back seat passengers, including children, in a crash.

I've done the mod myself, did it on my 04 when it was easier to just flip the brackets on the cab.

Stop trolling this thread if you don't have something to contribute.

Some, myself included - right or wrong - think that method compromises the crash integrity of the seat structure. It also reduces headroom for back seat passengers, even if only 1/2".

That said, the seatbelt and carseat anchors will certainly still function as intended, so I get if it doesn't matter to others.

I still think it's a no brainer mod for someone who wants easy back seat access to perform. Modifications have been performed on vehicles for years, both good and bad. People using the back seat in today's world I'm sure will use their seatbelts. No biggie
