2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Hello everyone,
new to this Forum but not to Rams... currently own 2016 Ram 1500 Ecodisel and thinking about 2500 Ram Laramie / CTD.
After reading for hours through most of this thread, I am strongly considering Mark Dodge for my next truck factory order... the question I have is:
How tax credit on trade-in works with MD? Here in WA, I will receive tax credit when purchasing a new car, about 10% of my trade-in value. Since I'm out of state buyer for LA, how would that work?
Anyone have experience they could share?
Thanks
Sales tax and trade credits are based on your zip code. Doesn't matter where you buy it (in the US).

Thanks for replying...
So, I should expect same (WA state) tax credit even though I trade my truck in LA?

in Canada, i can buy anywhere in Canada, I live in Saskatchewan. So If I buy in ALberta, Alberta will not charge me Albertan taxes. I get charged Saskatchewn taxes when I go to register my new vehicle in Saskatchewan. All my tax rebates from my trade in will be applied at that time. Some States make you pay their taxes at time of purchase, I just have to apply for a refund when I show i paid my states taxes. So it can be annoying to buy out of state here in Canada sometimes, but in the end, you only pay taxes for your state here, and all the tax discounts are still applied. I saved almost $8000 in taxes by trading in my 2019!

It's going to be a while....... Stealer said 12-14 weeks. I found a Stellantis document which states 22-26 weeks for "Order-to-Delivery". Yikes.

Really appreciate your response... that makes sense. Hopefully it works the same here, in the states, and between WA and LA .

I just learned that my 3500 is in the frame building stage. I understand that the build is an 8 hour process. Does that time frame include the frame and paint stage or is it 8 hours after that process is complete? If after, how long is the frame and paint process? Thanks!
I can't say for certain with these trucks but at the GM plants I worked at 8 hrs was just about right. While the unit was in frame shop other areas were sub assembling various parts. After paint has been dried in ovens, the body was assembled to bottom frame which already had engine, tranny, exhaust, suspension etc installed. Then the assembled section went down the line for interior, windows, electronics etc. Their goal was to put one vehicle out every 52 seconds when production was up to full volume.

Oh yes. My fuel bill will essentially double. Cost of oil changes will be less. Personal satisfaction - priceless!!

Sorry, what are you going from/to? CTD to hemi, or vice versa? Assuming the ctd to hemi, due to the lower cost of oil changes.

No, you don't do it, a licensed company does it. They have access to certain areas. Only your dealership would be able to do this for you.
I'm not in that big of a rush. They get sell so many jeeps there that they'll probably have a shipment in a couple days.

From my experience I think it means the truck is delayed until either they find a rail car to put it on or they are waiting on the car to fill up with trucks. Mine was in that status for a little over a week before it shipped.

Thanks, guys! Hopefully it is just waiting on a railcar or waiting for one to fill

I had the only truck on my truckload delivered to the dealership. My salesman did offer the hot shot as an option. I am like you, I could wait another week.
Yea I'd like to have it but there no rush as it will just be like my current truck, just sitting in the drive way because i have a work van

I guess every state is different. I have bought and sold quite a few dirt bikes here in Missouri. If I sell one, and then buy another one with 180 days, the DOR will subtract to selling price of the first vehicle against the purchase price of the new vehicle, thereby reducing sales tax (essentially the same situation as trading in at the dealership).

If I sell the vehicle after purchasing a replacement, and it’s within the approved timeframe (180 days), I can fill out and submit a sales tax credit rebate form and get a check for the difference.

This is what I will be doing with my current truck. I’ll sell it after the new one arrives, and get some of the sales tax back.

Once it enters the plant it will take 8 hours to come out the other end, after that the assembly times will become available

Different in Kansas. If you trade in, you deduct the purchase price of old vehicle. You sell outright before or after new purchase, cha ching. The dollar signs roll in their eyes and you don't get any back,

@OfficerDirtyDanchez I just talked to my dealer. That noise you hear is that of angels singing. I'm in paint as of right now. It has moved the scheduled ship date from 1/23 to 1/22. I'll take every 24 hrs they give me. It will probably take another 3 weeks to ship to KC and then to dealership. Getting excited:D:D:D

I think the problem may be where you "trade in" your truck - If you bring it down to the Selling Dealer, I think you are correct, you pay the tax on the difference (at least in La) - but if you sell old truck in Washington or trade it in up there (not sure that last makes sense), I am not sure how credit would work. You need to talk to Mark Dodge if thats where you are buying - I am sure they have come across just about any situation considering their out-of-state sales volume.
