Let’s see your wagons with 35 and 37’s

@dothatagain - I'm loving this setup! OEM 17" wheels with 37" tires has been working very well. Plenty of power when I need it. The AEV Pro Cal worked perfect for adjusting to the 37's.

A few things to report however:
1. The Maxxis Razr's did not wear as well as I had hoped . Even with tire rotations every 3K miles faithfully, they didn't not last more than 12k miles (although I could have gone longer if winter wasn't near). I ended up selling them with some tread left and putting a set of 37" Cooper Discoverer STT PRO's on.
2. Definitely get rubbing with mild off-roading (thankfully I do mostly light trail - unfortunately I don't get to do anything more). However, I have not done any trimming. Minor rubbing on the radius arms at full lock.
3. Airing down may be an issue with the OEM wheels, but I have not done that.

Overall, super happy with the setup. The OEM wheels keep the tires mostly under the truck so I don't get rocks flung up and paint chips. I am considering a 4" lift but have not yet convinced myself to pull the trigger.

Side note: I am running 48 psi - it's been 5 - 10 degrees in the morning so they have been as low as 41 psi.

I have SLIGHT rub on the radius arm bolts with 315/70/17 (35”) Wildpeaks on the stock wheels. I never noticed it until I saw the bolt heads were a bit shiny and there was a small witness mark ring on the sidewall lugs

I've almost got 3,000 miles on my 37" MT Baja Boss MT on the factory beadlock capable wheels.. I've aired way down on them ; Mornings have been around 35F here and they are registering 30 up front and 25 in rear. I'm rubbing on radius arms and sway bar at full lock. Just driving around on the trails there have been no rubbing i've heard/noticed. I haven't had a need to disconnect or ability to fully flex yet. I've noticed alignment issues crop up in the last couple of weeks so need to get get that done.

Noise level has increased a little, still not bad imo - the drone from the dual magnaflows at 1500-1800 rpm is worse.

Still not sure if i want to approach the rubbing with new arms and bars, spacers or new wheels.

Yep, Razr MT's. Perfect alignment. They wore evenly, just faster than expected. I would have kept them on longer if it had been spring but with winter coming, I didn't like having a 1/4" of tread. I probably could have gotten another 5k miles from them.

I was interested in the RAZR ATs but maybe not so much anymore
 
FWIW, i had Razr MT’s on my ‘07 Avalanche before this - The were amazing - I had … close to 25k miles on them and still had a /ton/ of tread. They were solid and had great traction. Very quiet also.

I wanted them on my PW but couldn’t find any in stock. I wonder if the weight of the PW is too hard on the softer compound.

I’ll might be needing new tires before next winter so starting my research now.

I looked at them as well. Here is a pretty good review. I trust Australians to properly test most off road equipment:


I think I settled on the Pro Comp AT Sports, though. They have a better treadwear warranty, and good reviews. They are also a little taller (unloaded) than the Razr ATs.
 
They have a 40,000 mile tread warranty. It would he worth trying a set!
tread warranty is a hassle if they wear out in 12000 miles. I know I am old fashioned but I really want my tires made in the USA. I know it is not always possible to buy USA made products but on tires there are many options still. I looked on the Maxxis website and this is what it says. No USA facilities.

this is their warranty.

Anybody use Nokiian tires? I had them on my old Durango. They were fantastic in the snow which is my primary concern. I think they only go up to a 315 which I think is equivalent to 35"??? Finnish company so I think they know a thing or two about rural snow roads.

Yeah I’ve had Nokians on previous cars. Excellent snow tires.

They make the Hakka LT3 in 315/70/17. I’m sure they are great in the snow. But here in Denver, the snow is usually clear of the roads in 24-48 hours after a storm. I have a hard time justifying true snow tires when I have ATs that do well in the snow. If the roads were snow packed most of the winter…sure. But since my “summer tires” are all terrains with 3PMSF rating, it doesn’t make sense to get actual snow tires.

Maybe if I switched to a more aggressive offroad tire (no siping) that wasn’t 3PMSF rated, then maybe I would consider actual snow tires.

I had their Rotiiva AT tires. I think it's a true off road tire. At least all terrain. I know they make a more of a mud tire. I think they call it a rock tire but I don't think it would do well in the snow.

I ran Nokiian all season (don't remember which ones) tires on my old Acura TSX here in Colorado Springs and they did great both in the summer and in the light winter driving conditions we get here. Snow was not a problem with them either. I would have ran them on my newer cars, but they an be a pain to find locally.

I drive 45 miles to work, 45 miles home... Thruway (75 mph). Probably not the most idea use of MT's. That is likely why they burned out so fast. I got about 25k miles out of my General Grabber X-3's (35x12.5x17), So I am comparing the RAZR MT's to the Grabbers MT's.

I don't want to have MT's for off-road and AT's for daily driver use. So I sacrifice and just stick with MT's. I may be picking up another vehicle for my DD. LOL

If you are looking for a set of AT's the RAZR's might be ok.

A little late here - but we have been running Nokian winter tires for more than ten years, and couldn't be happier. We live at 8,500 feet; winter lasts six months, and we regularly drive up and down steep frozen canyons, and up to high mountain trail heads. These tires are amazing. I run Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 studded tires on the truck, Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 without studs on the wife's 4Runner, and Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 on the Audi. Nokians are awesome, but all winter tires are better than non-winter tires. You don't have to take my word - every test ever performed shows that winter tires outperform all MTs, ATs or any other tire in winter driving conditions. Winter tires will allow you to have better traction on snow and/or ice when accelerating, cornering, and - most importantly - when you need to stop. So there is no question that they perform better in the winter than ATs or any other tires. The real questions are: how often will you be driving on snow and/or ice, and how important is it to you to have maximum traction at those times.

My PW is still on order so I'm in idea overload until it comes. My plan was to get proper wheels and go to 37s and run snow-rated tires like the KO2 or AT/X or Falkin. But today I got thinking geez I likely can't run chains on the front with 37s.. So I'm thinking maybe I should keep the factory wheels, run 35s in the winter and then in the summer I can get 37s in a mud terrain.

The bonus is my LJ Rubicon is on 35s so I could get one set of chains.
 
I have this same model, it came with 22 in wheels on 33 in tires, I would like to go to 37 like you . Did you lift it and if so how much? Thanks for any input

I have a Thuren Fab. 1.5" front end leveling kit. No other lift.

I run Falken wildpeaks all year…can’t justify two sets here In Denver when the roads are clear after 24-48 hours after snow and the Wildpeaks are 3PMSF rated and do pretty well. Not as great as true snow tires, but with 4WD and plenty of ground clearance it does well.
Also, I do some winter wheeling, and wouldn’t trust the sidewalls on a winter tire to be as tough as the offroad tires.

I do run chains offroad in the winter. I have V bars for the rears and cables for the front.
