Looking for shocks compatible with Thuren rear spring kits, anyone try these 883-26-023 Fox Shocks, or have any idea if they will fit? The fox application guide shows they are for an older RAM2500, but they appear to have the same top and bottom attachment code as the shocks meant for 2014+ RAM 2500 (SM1,ES7, below) , as well as the travel and length specs to meet the requirements published by Thuren for their extended travel rear spring kit. Thuren obviously wants you to buy shocks through them, but they seem to have very limited options in stock. I am hoping to go with the Fox 2.5 over the 2.0, as I have run both on previous trucks and have preferred the 2.5 in terms of ride quality and robustness. The adjustability gives me some hope that I could find a setup that works well with the Thuren springs. I'm thinking of going with the stock height-mid rate springs, which I guess are supposed to be similar to power wagon.

I've dumped some information below, hard to know for sure what I am looking at, as I am still waiting for my truck to be built. Trying to get ahead and figure this out now, as many offroad parts are on substantial backorder.

From Fox application Guide: Part number | EXT length | Compresed Length | Travel | Top mount | Bottom Mount | Reservoir style

From Thuren:

Hard to tell if they will fit especially because FOX doesn't include the correct picture with the product page, the picture they show is an eyelet to eyelet piggyback shock while the specs and description clearly indicate it is a stemtop remote reservoir model:

The way the pin top mount sticks through the frame makes me think a remote reservoir would be required, as the piggyback reservoir would be inside the frame rail.

I suggest you buy shocks from Thuren. They will be valved to match their springs and your use.

Call Thuren

Also, all my shocks from him have been body down as there isn't enough room within the framerail for the resi/piggyback to fit. He has also been testing and running Fox 2.5s on his personal truck for a while. Not sure where that process is currently or leadtime on anything larger than 2.0 from anybody.

I would like to order from them, but they have nothing in stock for shocks. 883-26-013 (same thing as -26, just a couple 1/10's of an inch shorter) appears to be in stock on several sites - not backordered for months. I was hoping with the adjustability I could get to a damping setting that works. I was going to run their mid rate (power wagon stiffness) springs, not the super soft ones.

Since you are looking at 2.5s I am assuming you care about performance. IMO it would be worth the wait to run the Thuren shocks if you are going to use their springs. Give them a call and see what they say. They will not steer you wrong. Also, look into the King 2.5s. They have a long lead time too but things are starting to loosen up a bit. You can also check with Carli.

Does Thuren or Carli have their own shocks?

Or is their shocks revalved Kings or Fox to meet their spring/truck package?

If the latter, I'd go with their setup then, since I'm sure they have done testing to get the right valving setup.. Unless you can get the fox or king shocks and find out what shim stack Thuren or Carli is running in them ,then change them out yourself.

Both Thuren and Carli have custom valving from King and Fox. Carli even has a custom piston in their Kings. Carli also has Stainless Steel shafts on their Kings. Thuren hasSS shafts as an option with their Kings. With Thuren you can choose different valving setups depending on how will use your truck. I believe Carli will make changes to the valving for you too. I know they used to. Heck, 10 years ago they would even hop in your truck with you and hit whoops and then make changes to the stack. I doubt they do that anymore. The industry has really grown.

What is the indication you have that things are starting to improve with regards to lead times?

I see friends getting their kits in. I would definitely give them a call and let them know your timeline.

I ended up going with Carli pintop f+r based on availability. Now need to sell the fox shocks that I had ordered for the front, but I think this way is gonna be better in the long run.

What stage valving did you go with? How does it differ from the 2.0's?
Big difference. I ordered 2.5s for the front. I went with stage 2 on the rear. Stage 2.5 for the front. I think i might raise the truck some more. Go 3" in front and 1" in the rear. Use to commute everyday. Now its the weekend truck. Just wanted the most comfortable ride

Might be a good idea to protect your investment.

I picked up a set but haven't installed them yet. I was gonna make my own but I never got around to it.

The are pretty good, material is not that thick but good insurance.

Planning to order the Thuren front end kit. Is that where those shocks came from?

I was surprised when I opened the box. They are actually beefier than I expected. I may put a small bead on them as well. Another surprise- with the Steel-It paint they used you don't need grind the paint off before welding.

Where would you recommend adding a bead to?

On the rear edge of the guard. CJC recommends it. I guess the thought is a hard hit can pivot the guard into the shock. A seld will help prevent that. I will look at it after I install it and decide.

Oh ok, so not on the guard itself, but actually welding the rear of the guard to the lower shock mount. Yeah definitely see how the front face of the guard could pivot backward and contact the res on a hard hit. Hmmm now you got me thinking. My main purpose for getting them was to protect the knobs, they would shear right off if they caught on something.
