2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

How long have do you normally wait for a your vin to get made? I ordered my truck on Saturday and already got one this morning. My cousin ordered a ford 2 months ago and still hasn’t got his so I guess ram is a doing a bit better.
Usually a few days. The folks on here that wait longer is likely due to their salesman not updating them. The VIN is more or less a confirmation that the plant has received your order. Your Ford cousin probably has a a VIN assigned to the order, just hasn't been informed yet.

I have a friend that is a fleet manager at a large Pennsylvania dealer, 2 months ago he ordered 40 vehicles under friend’s and families names.
Those people have no intentions of buying said vehicles. I imagine other dealers do it also.
Factory thinks it’s a sold order when in fact it’s ordered for dealer inventory, they have been doing that for years, High volume dealer.
That's asking for trouble!

I was under the impression that this isn’t possible in the current climate based on the parameters that FCA (Stellantis) has set forth and must be met for a sold order. I was also under the impression that sold orders must be sold to the person that ordered it or else the selling dealer can face consequences for fraudulently placing sold orders (temporary suspension of ordering)

That’s what I’ve been told by another dealer also, do some high volume dealers do it and get away with it ? Probably.

It explains it on the dealer web page, not good.

Not sure if this has been answered but it seems like someone of build vs order time lines are just random. folks who ordered super early have still not gotten their truck and people just ordered later Aug have their trucks and info.

Any idea on flow.

What a Monday morning. Now to wait for it to happen.
"Good Morning. I have great news for you! Your Truck has moved to D1 Status with an estimated start of production date of 11/06. Check back with me about 1-2 weeks after that date to check the progress of the build and see if we have a rail assignment."

What and when order?

Is that available for the public to read. Would be interesting to read and a good distraction from the reality that my equipment listing hasn’t populated yet…

Nope, it's a dealer only page.

Wow. The day I thought would never arrive!
Build sheet populated!

As someone who's waiting (im)patiently, I get it. However, I think it's worth pointing out that RAM also has to support its dealer network. If a dealer doesn't have anything on the lot -- which has been the case for quite awhile now, for most dealers -- there's nothing for them to sell. I have no idea about the business side of that balancing act, but I don't think it's fair to expect them to do only sold orders. Also, the way I understand it, RAM (Stellantis) makes its money when the dealer is invoiced, so it makes no difference to them if it's a sold order. The dealer makes money when they sell a vehicle.
I agree however, sold orders have ALWAYS had priority over dealer stock and I haven't heard anything official that dealer stock is the new priority. I get that dealers need to earn a living with stock on their lots....and truthfully that's how Ram makes money too. But what really get's my blood pressure up is when a dealer (over a 1,000 miles away) orders 20 trucks (4 are exactly the same options as my July 1st order) and ALL were ordered 6 weeks after mine (1 week after the plant opened to build '22's). All 20 are built and in an in-transit status to the dealers lot. I don't think many of them (if any) are sold orders as they are all pretty much in sequential order.....because that's how dealers order they order them in batches. When I see this the first thing I think is that what chip shortage or other shortages for that matter?.....4 trucks ordered after mine all the same options to go sit on a lot so a dealer can make monthly payments when they have many SOLD orders (on the tracker from this forum) that are taking a back seat to.....its just a little hard to swallow. Ok, I'll be patient and I'll suck it up, get off my soap box and take a seat now.

Haven't taken decent photos yet but I picked this bad boy up Friday Morning. I live in Austin, TX so I met up with Mark Dodge halfway just outside of Houston. Rides like a dream. Crossing my fingers for the rest of y'all!

Did they drive it or did they hotshot it?

Im not even going to inquire of status of my 05/07 order today because I know what I will be told... still gathering parts I am sure. I have a feeling that I ordered every part that is associated with any type of delay (except BSM).

I see a lot of you upgrading to the 22 from 20’s and 19’s. I’m coming from a 19 my self. What’s some of the reasons for the upgrade? I’m actually thinking of leasing this time. Since I don’t hold on to my truck for long.
I had down graded to a Big Horn and was wanting to get back to a limited or a Laramie. There are a few options than I missed, and I picked it from dealer stock. Plus I like to trade every 2 years or so. I usually get top dollar from my trade as it has 10 - 20K miles on them.
