How do people feel about the new AEV bumpers?

For those of you with the rear bumper, did any of you retain the oem bed step? I had it before i installed mine, but didnt think it would be compatible. Now im regretting selling it before giving it a go. Im not the tallest guy in the world so getting up into the bed is a chore and contemplating just ordering another one. If you were able to make it work do you mind posting pics?

I did - went with Fuel Rogue 20x10, the tires are Yokohama X-MT. I’m not 100% sold on the combo (mostly the tires…but it’l literally all I could find). I’m already exploring another setup. But I like that this combination is lighter than the AEV/Toyo version.

Thanks. It’s a work in progress - AEV did the base package, now come the other bits (bed rack, lighting, etc.).

Black rhino armory. Had them on my jeep gladiator (below). Did a quick photo edit to see what they’d look like. Scale might be slightly off, but it’s close. I really just wanted to see the style on the truck, and I like it.

I like the way the AEV front bumper looks, not sold on the rear. I also like the Kelderman bumpers too.

I always find it interesting that most discussions are centered on looks and rarely on technical attributes or performance.

Agree - and for some reason the visual side of things always seems important. Not more important than performance, of course. But in the case of my internal debate about the wheels, once I resolved that I wouldn't be considering any wheel/tire combos that didn't meet or improve existing performance, the next factor to debate is appearance. Kind of like pants. Once I decide which ones fit and allow me to do Chuck Norris-style roundhouse kicks, I move on to which ones don't make my a** look fat.

Functional is most important but the truck has to look good. It’s not hard to accomplish both. Neither is optional to me.

Exactly! Function before looks but I need both. Functional also depends on what the owner wants to do with their truck. For some it is towing....they may smirk at my mods. For others, it may be high speed off road, Overlanding, or even crawling. The ones I never understood are the lifted-ass-dragging trucks with the tires sticking out into the next county. To me, that has no function. But I could be wrong. Maybe it helps at the drag strip (or picking up girls/guys at the mall).

Forgot to reply to this - I had the Rebel on my raptor, also a dark gray color. Personally, i loved it - not too much gray at all.
