How do people feel about the new AEV bumpers?

While I have you on the line, lol, how much length does it add to the front of the truck? When you get a sec, What’s the measurement from the bottom bar of the front grill, to the furthest point out on the bumper?

From front to back my truck is tight in the garage. Still got a couple feet but not much more...
Lucky for you, I’ve already measured for another member, because I don’t have my truck this week.

Bottom trim of the grille, just above the bumper, measured out the the front of the (recessed) fairlead is 10”. The winch is at least 8” deep

(Old) Shot of the poke out, also shows the bumper curving with the truck. I think they did a good job with the shapes

power wagon definitely has better approach angle.
Compared to the AEV bumper or compared to the regular 2500? I thought the pw bumper is the same as the regular 2500 bumper but powder coated black instead of chrome/color matched/satin black paint. I wish Ram had a factory high-clearance bumper like they do for the Rebel

The lower plastic valance/air dam on the PW is different and a bit better for approach angle I think... but I removed it since it would probably remove itself otherwise

Compared to the AEV, power wagon has better approach and is tucked in better all around.

I understand why AEV put the winch in front, though. Because they wanted to fit diesel trucks as well

If part numbers and schematics were easier to find, I would’ve priced out doing a PW front end conversion. But, There is so much info to sort through and I doubt it would’ve been any cheaper to do.

I think there’s a couple people on here who have fitted the Power Wagon winch cradle into their trucks...I think that’s about all there is to it. Difficulty is the winch clutch needs a custom extension to be accessible if you use a regular winch.

Got the rear bumper installed yesterday. That was a JOB. But I think it looks great on my PW.
For those curious about material thickeness: OEM bumper is about 1/16” thick, AEV is about 1/8”. Corner tubes are 2.5”x1/8”.

I found the recovery points fit both 7/8” and 1” shackles. 3/4” did not fit (jaw of shackle was too narrow). YMMV, but I used Van Beest screw pin bow alloy “Super Shackles”

Maybe I haven’t seen that bumper from that angle before but I never thought I needed that bumper til right now. Drool.

I think they are by far the best looking aftermarket bumpers out there, (though it comes at a steep price). With that said I do think you need some tire and lift to pull off the look (front bumper especially).

Mine should be here this week!

I like their stuff. In fact, my build is going to be a Prospector “clone,“but with a suspension setup better suited for my off-road driving style. I already installed the rear bumper and the front bumper and winch are going on next Friday.40AD03FA-5DED-4C9D-BEFF-0A8F7F985B29.jpeg

Good dang that bumper Looks amazing. And i love the white trucks when they’re built out. Just my eye here but may I suggest blacking out those exposed white bits behind the bumper?

I originally planned to do the Power Wagon winch install but that was only rated for a 12k winch and my plans required the 16.5k one so the AEV bumper was my only choice.

Jealous of your 16.5ti
I initially ordered a 16.5ti for mine, but it was during COVID and Warn cancelled my order. I called and they said there were none in the country and the ETA was April (that was 4-5 months out at the time) so I settled on an M12s rather than waiting since you need the winch to install the bumper. 12,000 is only 120% of my GVWR but that’s what snatch blocks are for, right?

The AEV kit came with black out vinyl wrap, but I messed it all up trying to put it on. I may end up painting the exposed white bits soon, as part of the black and white theme I have in mind.

I scoped out that white/black theme. My wife and i call it stormtrooper. Love that look.
Black vinyl is super cheap. Vivvid I think is the brand I used recently. Amazon

AEV stuff is beautiful and well engineered. However, I learned from experience with my AEV Wrangler build that their products are only produced when they're hot. After that, you're on your own.

It would really suck to have the fenders, bumpers and wheels on my HD truck, only to need to replace something a few years down the road and everything is discontinued.

I understand, its just business and they gotta do what's best for the bottom line, but I called last week to order the HEMI swap kit for my Jeep and they discontinued it several months ago. You wouldn't know it if you looked at their website, like I've done several times a week over the last year.
