2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new order. Dealer is giving me a great figure for my 2018 Ram 2500 Mega loaded Big Horn Can you guys give me your input on build?

2022 Ram 2500 Mega Big Horn
2HZ - Diesel
-Level B pkg (There was a level C package listed when I was at the dealer on Sat, would not open specs due to system slowness)
-Big Horn Silver Edition
-Tech Pkg
-5th wheel prep grp
-Off road pkg
-Bucket seats
-Spray liner/bed lights (cheaper to go w bed utility grp?)
-220 amp
-Cab lights
-Rear wheel liners

More cost effective to go with Laramie? Leather seats aren't a must. Any other pkg I should look at?
Hey, Maybe its just me or the way I built the truck, but I spec'd out a Big horn with everything that I wanted, Then I spec'd out a Laramie with the minimum I would want (Basically everything I would want to add to the Big horn) and the rough numbers came out to be only about $2000 more for the Laramie. I decided that vented seats, the fender flares, and the slightly nicer interior/seats were easily worth $2000.

I would recommend doing a similar comparison on what you want. On the 1500's the big horn is usually the best way to go for price because you get a ton of incentives and it brings the price gap between the big horn and the Laramie to a pretty significant amount. That is not the case on the 2500 because incentives are few and far between.

Just my two cents but the Laramie was the better option for what I was looking for.

Resale makes a difference too. You almost get no credit for any options past the standard options for a particular trim level.

I noticed this exact same thing myself. I wonder if dealers have more incentive to sell Big Horns or something? Idk

Just about 3/4 people I see driving a 1500 are driving a big horn. my assumption is they just make so many that the price is a lot cheaper than making a Laramie or Limited, so they just crank out a bunch and sell them for cheaper. As for the 2500's all of the models are relatively rare compared to seeing a 1500.

This is true and would make sense. I wonder if when factory ordering if there's more leeway on Big Horn models? I'm kind of in the same boat where I think I might as well get the Laramie if I'm that close in options to it with the Big Horn. Or just load up a Tradesman as much as I can and save $5k :p

Yeah that was one of my thoughts but I decided it wasn't worth the time and money to delete the chrome and replace the headlights and taillights with the LED ones. So instead I just decided to spend more money lol.

It’s really the same on all levels. Once I loaded the Laramie with everything I needed, a few more thousand and I could get Limited w/ better seats and lights. It would be much different if you didn’t have to get a whole package just for 1 or 2 options. If it was a la carte, I would have a Laramie instead.

For me, I didn't opt for the 12 inch screen, safety features, and a couple other things that the limited makes you get, So that's why I didn't stack all the way up to Limited. but I did notice that as well.

I think the safety package on the Tradesman actually includes LED taillights but no LED headlights is sad indeed. I was looking and found Morimoto makes a complete LED headlight assembly but at $1700 it's pretty steep

It took me some work in excel to decide what the best option was for me and I was still undecided so i just said f- it one day and went to the dealer and ordered it. Half of us arent going to own the truck more than 2-3 years anyway so if you mess up, you just try not to the next time around. lol

Exactly what happened to me, I ended up with the Laramie instead of the bighorn

Same for me as well. By the time I got the Laramie with the options I wanted it was something like an $800 difference. The $800 seemed well worth the upgraded leather and other bits that come standard in the Limited

I went with the GTR Ultra 2.0 bulbs for both low and high beams in the stock halogen housing on my 2019 3500 Tradesman. Didn’t want to upgrade to the next trim level. The bulbs were an amazing improvement over the stock halogen bulbs. I bought them from headlight revolution and they come with the needed PWM module so you get no flicker and no codes. Only caveat is that you lose the feature of headlight dimming for daytime running lights function but not a big deal for me. I also added the led front turning signal bulbs they offer.

So with the speculation that they have done away/changed some packages (level A/B) and now have C/D, what happens to those of us with orders that were accepted already for a level A/B build? Also rumors of tech package changes as well?

This needs answered. Also, is the 8.4" screen still part of level B? The dealership I am working with isnt sure.

Is it only the big horn that has had the packages split from A and B to more packages, or does anyone know if the laramies have had that happen too?

Hey y'all. New here. I ordered my Laramie on May 18th and I've been stuck in the first stage of production since August 2nd. I'm sure my salesman is getting tired of the weekly "Any news?" Texts I send him.

On top of all this, the dealership has been holding onto my 2019 2500 Tradesman since I made the order. (Dealership is 2 hrs drive from me so I told them to hold onto it. I never signed it over) I have a work truck so it wasn't putting me into a bind. However... hunting season is getting close, and I need my truck to pull my tractor to the lease. So idk how much longer I can wait.

It's sad when the salesman let's you know that he put your trade in on a trickle charger because it's been sitting so long waiting on your new truck to come in.

I guess I don’t understand the logic of them holding your trade for you. And I’m surprised they are. If I could do without it I’d sell it now. Trade prices are trending down and have been for the past 7 weeks.

That's kind of where I'm at right now. Either make them do the Trade in Affidavit for the agreed price, or back out of the order.
