Hello everyone, I have a picture of my steering box that has a nut and a screw. Can I adjust this? It seems to be way too sloppy and it’s brand new.A4369109-44D8-410B-B24C-79003C4F17D3.jpeg

I had to correct my steering a ton , especially on the highway, and it was in my caster angle, once I corrected that it made a huge difference. Look up thuren specs and get it done. I wouldn’t mess with the adjustment on your steering gear, it can lead to premature wear.

Seems like there’s a few other people having the same issue. Did you just have it aligned?

I got it as close to 0 toe as I could with a tape measure and then I adjusted the cams for the caster to the second indicators back from the center position towards the rear of the truck, from factory one was way forward and the other way back. They should be close to the same position.
Every time I have had my rams aligned they always screw it up, so I just do it myself now.

Really sucks they can’t get this right from factory. Last thing I wanna do is to align my own truck after spending all that money. Should I take it to a reputable tire shop? I’ve never tried to align one of my own vehicles.

While that screw is an adjustment I would not touch it, not doing it correctly can lead to premature wear of the steering box. Is the truck out of warranty already? If not take it to a dealer. Also most likely something else is the cause of your issue, alignment, loose track bar, bad hub or ball joint etc.

Sloppy steering compared to what?

it’s a straight axle truck a few feet off the ground. I did my own alignment at home as well. Feels great. I feel like the steering is tight for a sold axle rig, but I’m used to solid axle rigs. Compared to my Porsche it feels sloppy, though.

I came from a ram 2019 1500 to a 2021 2500 and it seemed sloppy, put some miles on and get used to it and see

The thing is, even if they give it a perfect factory alignment, the factory specs are crap, gotta go with the Thuren specs.

I aligned my second gen with a tape after replacing just about the entire front and then took it to a shop with a nice rack. They didn't touch it. Tires wore nicely being rotated with oil changes and it drive well for what it was.....a second gen DODGE.

I feel the 2021 is hard to judge at times. It does wander, it does have some deflection over stutter type bumps that ends up in the steering wheel and while it drives nice I feel it could be better. That said, it's a solid axle truck and it has junk tires. Oh and my steering wheel has been off a few degrees from day one which really bothers me. It's an easy fix but I am in same boat as above. It's new and I bought it so I didn't have to wrench.

How many miles do you have on your truck? I had 36K and mine had a lot of play in the steering. But I drive over a lot of rough terrain, and it turned out that I had a hub going out. The dealership replaced it, and that fixed most of the problem.
