By The Numbers: Full Size Truck Sales Q1 2021:
Breaking Down The Full Size Truck Market Through The First Quarter
As we do at the end of every quarter, it is time to break down the full-sized truck sales market. Automakers are continuing to struggle with production due to the semiconductor shortage, which has caused option package changes, production slowdowns, and even resulted in vehicles being built and then held for missing parts. Even so, there were some big winners and losers in the full-sized truck market.
In the U.S market Fords F-Series is up 9.2% riding on the launch of the all-new F-150 with 203,797 units sold compared to 186,562 through the first quarter of 2020. Ram sales are up 16% compared to the same time last year with 148,836 Ram trucks rolling off the lots, taking the second place spot through the first quarter of this year. Sales of the Chevrolet Silverado have slowed by 12.5% with 126591 sold through the first quarter of this year, falling into the third-place spot. GMC experienced an 18.7% sales increase compared to Q1 2020 with 62,917 Sierras sold compared to 53,009 during the same period last year. Toyota Tundra sales continue to fall, down 11.7% compared to Q1 2020 while Nissan saw Titan sales spike 30.2% compared to the same period last year.
