The first batch of 2022 Ram Heavy Duty pickups have begun to arrive in dealer inventories across the country. While most are Tradesman and Big Horn models with only a few options, we can tell RAM is working around the semiconductor shortage by building as many trucks as they can.

But while we will be digging more in-depth into the 2022 lineup over the next few weeks, we figured we would take a quick look at one of the new Big Horn models and see what is different from last year. This particular 2022 Ram 2500 Big Horn Night Edition Crew Cab 4×4 is currently for sale at Holzhauer Auto and Motorsports Group in Nashville, Illinois.

The first thing you will notice is that the 2022 Ram 2500/3500 Big Horn (Lone Star in Texas) models get an all-new grille texture design. Ditching the straight vertical bars for a new textured grille that looks more in line with the Limited’s grille. The new grille gives the mainstream Big Horn model a more upscale look to the front of the vehicle, as shown in this Night Edition model.

This model also includes a new Level C Equipment Package that will set a customer back $4,195 USD. That is slightly cheaper than the Level B Equipment Package that RAM created last year after the semiconductor shortage started to affect production. While the Level C package is cheaper than the Level B Equipment package for 2021 by $475, the Level C package is missing some of the equipment that the Level B package featured. This includes Power Adjustable Pedals, Power Folding Mirrors, and Automatic-Dimming Rear-View Mirror from what we can tell.
The Level C Equipment Package includes the following equipment…
- Exterior 115V AC Outlet
- 2nd–Row In-Floor Storage Bins
- Heated Front Seats
- Rear Power–Sliding Window
- A/C with Dual–Zone Auto Temperature Control
- 8–Way Power Adjustable Driver Seat
- Front Fog Lamps
- Heated Steering Wheel
- Steering–Wheel–Mounted Audio Controls
- ParkSense® Front and Rear Park–Assist System
- Remote–Start System
- 400W Inverter

While the Night Edition returns for 2022, it does come with an added price. It appears that the Night Edition package will have an additional $400 increase over the 2021 model, according to this truck’s MONRONEY (window sticker) with a listed price of $2,895.

The other options that this truck is equipped with, appears to have the pricing carried over from the 2021 model year.

The biggest change to the Ram Heavy Duty for 2022, is the addition of the new Uconnect 5 software for the truck’s infotainment system. The Uconnect 5 software is four times faster with three times more memory than the outgoing 4C software. Uconnect 5 features Wi-Fi capability, tow-specific navigation and brings flexibility that allows the system to continuously evolve to offer new content, features, and services.
