ZF Fluid change on 2019 2500 6.4

Changed the transmission fluid @ 72K miles.
Minimal towing of the TT so I was ok with waiting this long.

Picked up a MOPAR filter as it came with new hardware (also had 4 magnets) and I couldn't really find a solid/consistent review on the Dorman (which apparently can have only 2 magents), wasn't interested in a metal/bigger pan.
Used AMSoil Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic ATF vs Lifeguard.
Original pan did indeed have a drain plug... dumped the old fluid and removed/installed the pan while it was cold and on the ground.
The Lifeguard smelled fine, though it was a bit of a darker green than what I see for new fluid online.

Jacked up the rear, and filled, ran the truck and 86-122 degrees was *plenty* of time to go through the procedure and get back under the truck to re-fill.

The only thing I will say is that I had to jack up the rear *a lot*... (yes, the driveway is pretty level) had to put a 4x4 on the floor jack to be able to get it high enough and even then I was a smidge off level. Also will be draining/refill one more time to get more of the old fluid out.

Can you post your review on the Amsoil ATF after you've driven a while? I was also looking at using Amsoil when the time comes. My only hold up is the color and I have a 10/100k warranty so if I had an issue before the warranty is up, the dealer would surely flag the red fluid. I saw a video of a guy that had to change his Jeep fluid out 5 or 6 times before it was perfectly red in color because the ZF distorts it when mixed. Thought I'd mention it since you talked about draining and refilling to get more old fluid out.

If anyone is curious, here is the formula to calculate the percent of old oil left in a system when doing a partial change.

(((SystemTotalVolume - AmountPerChange)/SystemTotalVolume)^HowManyChanges)*100 = % of Old Oil

So this first time I replaced the pan and added close to 6 quarts, from what I can find the entire thing holds 9 qts(?).

Based on this calculator (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FEXyhLL3ph-r6cciIkYLKZdWCKwS7geKDsy05t_IWFk/edit?gid=2#gid=2) I've replaced 66.67% of the fluid leaving 3 quarts. At some point after I've driven a bit, I'll just drain and refill with other 6 quarts I have... chart says there will still be a couple of quarts of the old fluid, but whatever.

My warranty is long gone... as far as feel, it may simply be 'new fluid' bias, but the shifts seem smoother and more deliberate... meaning I'm not feeling that hesitation/pause and noticeable shift when it shifts gears, eco mode seems to come on sooner and stay on longer as well... totally unscientific and simply my (likely) biased observation. Once I get it changed again and get to tow for a bit I may have a better idea.

As a math-not-so-great I’m not sure if this is facetious or…..

Regardless I’m just gonna drain/fill a few times for good measure.

Technically, If you always change 2/3 of the fluid you can change it as many times as you want and you will have never changed all of it.

I think whoever did the calculations for the "Total percentage of Original Fluid Replaced" got it all wrong. I would be more inclined to believe the "Quarts Remaining to be Replaced" calculations. No mater what, you will always have residual old fluid remaining, unless you did a tranny/TC flush, with the whole thing taken apart. Two fluid changes every 60-80k should be more than most need.

I will be the control test because I ain’t ever doing that s***
