Well folks, I just got back from the BMV (DMV for Indiana..) roughly $600 lighter (I say roughly as it was $700 or so, but some was sales tax on the truck)

Seems my yearly registration fees are going to be around $450-500, this definitely seems higher than I used to pay on various cars in Texas and Illinois before relocating here. That being said, I never owned a car long enough to need to pay for the registration renewals there, and so it was always bundled into the purchase price TTL.

I'm curious - how much is everyone else getting stung for in their respective states? I'm running a 6.4 gasser, for reference...

Well I'm about to do my first registration on the 6.4 (tags have been up since April) and I can happily say that it will be less than or right at 100$

What state? My "registration" is only $50, but it's followed by a yearly tax, based on the MSRP of the truck.. said tax gets less and less yearly up-to $12. At some point, someone will be paying $65 a year..

First year renewal for my truck in Kalifornia is $960.00. Totally unreasonable. I'm sure a part of it goes to pay for the useless bullet train and Covid-19 payments to illegal aliens.

In GA you pay 7% when you buy it, and then it is only $20 a year. It’s painful upfront, but if you keep it a Long time it is better.

Same, gotta love the people’s republic

Can't stop laughing.

Laughing so hard I'm crying.

OK, maybe it was crying all along.

My first time reg incl "ownership tax" here in Kommirado was $1,726.92.

My sales tax at purchase was $3,921.85:

state @2.9% $2,258.90
county @1% $ 778.93
rtd* @1.1% $ 856.82
title $ 27.20
$ 3,921.85

It's so awesome that as the proud owner of a private vehicle I work my ass off to afford and use to haul my own fat ass around, I get to pay MORE than the county tax to subsidize public transportation. F me.

The annual registration fee's will forever continue to asses ownership tax on a declining, but never disappearing scale.

My 2018 $55K RV registration, 3rd year, was $621. Less than half the first year. Yay me.

In Alberta Canada it costs $159.45 for two years, or if you only want one year it is $84.45, you can save $9.45 for paying a two year registration.

$1157.75 - Initial purchase, Texas registered.
$960 - Additional registration fee, transfer to California.

$2,117.75 in total.

Florida, $175 a year, can pay twice as much for a two year sticker. :/

Yep, and don't forget that trailer (any trailer) tags are still a one time hit in these parts. For now...

Genuinely impressed Washington is so low..

I am Washington as well. What keeps our trucks low for tabs is the fact our trucks weigh over 6K. If it weren't the fact, we'd be paying out the a$$ like other states do, thanks to our (most counties voted down, but government forced/approved) Rapid Transit Tax or RTA.

And our Arctic Fox camper tabs are les than $30. If I had a motorhome, they'd be much higher.
