Wrong Speed Limits in Navigation?

Has anyone else had an issue where the navigation has a different (lower) speed than the posted speed limits? Just got a 2019 with 12" Uconnect and many of the speed limits for the streets around my house are 5 to 10 mph off. Found this odd as my 2017 8" Uconnect was bang on.

I find the onboard NAV is clunky to use and out of date rendering it useless...you are better off using Android Auto or Car Play...

My neighborhood shows 55 and one road shows 70 and I am no where near an interstate. I would not trust it.

I have found it to be wrong fairly often. And the voice command nav is pretty awful. It can't find it's butt with both hands. All in all the whole U connect thing is a big disappointment. Sorry I wasted my money on it.

I will never buy another new vehicle with nav in it because it is a waste of money for outdated maps including the speed limits, android auto or car play is the only way to go because your phone always updated and it is transfers to the screen.

The problem is they bundle the nav with higher trim levels or packages, so you can end up paying for it whether you want it or not. I have nav, but also only use CarPlay because it’s so much better.

That’s why I always stick with Garmin. They do one thing and they do it well.

Figured out how to send a google location to the Nav through the Uconnect app while on a trip last week. That’s going to really change things while traveling.

The nav system in Uconnect is Garmin. Uconnect has used Garmin nav systems for years.
Yes, but my Garmin gets updates directly from Garmin on a Garmin device using nothing but Garmin software. It doesn’t go through a third party vendor piggybacking on their software and on their device. Who knows what requirements FCA puts on these software developers.

Garmin releases the map updates every 3 months for their own branded systems, and annually for all the Chrysler products. That is probably a contractual arrangement with FCA. I suspect Garmin themselves probably limits the update frequency so as not to compete with their own branded equipment too heavily - selling FCA the minimum they asked for. The GPS device itself and the data is all Garmin, though. That includes the software for the device. Uconnect is just a display system for it. I can't imagine a situation where FCA would be changing the data coming from it before displaying it.

I've had different experiences with Garmin than you, I guess. I ran Garmin devices in the past and had similar map problems with them myself, so I don't find it surprising that there are still errors. Garmin wasn't too keen on getting error reports at the time, either. My wife used TomTom at the time, and she had far less problems. Garmin was much better for off-road activities, though. I quit using Garmin on the road when Google Maps became really useful on my phone. At the same time, my wife got an iphone and Apple's maps were incredibad. Google was just more accurate, plus I didn't have to be in the vehicle to use it. It's updated constantly, rather than once a quarter. And it's easy to download maps for when I plan to go somewhere out of cell tower range.

I still use my Garmin handheld for outdoor activities, though. Just not driving.

In the Uconnect app main menu, click the small location icon in the lower right to bring up the map. Use the search box to find the destination, then click the "Send & Go" option to send it to the truck's navigation system.

Here is a screen shot with an example.

That's great! I'm new to UConnect and have only used the map feature to check on my truck's location while it was getting worked on recently. I noticed the "Send & Go" link, but hadn't yet explored it, so didn't know specifically what it was all about. Thanks for the info and posting the screen shot. That helped a lot with the explanation.

You can also hit the “share” button in Apple Maps or Google Maps (or really anything with an address) and send it to UConnect that way.
