What did they say when you told them? I hope it is noted in the service records in case you have a problem.

This is why I change my own oil.

I’m not surprised at all by your story. A handful of years ago, I had a free oil change coupon. The Chevy dealer didn’t even have the type of oil that my 2.8L duramax called for.

Did you want a cookie?…. Perhaps you should deal with the dealership lol

Uncalled for and that's no way to welcome a new (newly posting) member.

@Lawrence, welcome to HDRams. Thanks for the info and ignore H3LZSN1P3R, he's the resident buzzkill.

I thought the new 10w-30 oil was just to get better mileage? If you can run a 5w-40, that tells me new 6.7 can still tolerate the clearances. The first number is just the winter grade.

There's an oil TSB on this in the Problems and TSB forum here.

The CGI engines are spec'd to use 10W-30 (any blend) or full synthetic 5W-40.

5W-40 for colder winter temps (or heavy towing in high heat IMHO).

15W-40 will coke up the hydraulic lifters.

Late spring, through early fall, the weather in AZ the weather reaches 120 and never falls below 90. I sure hope that film strength on that 30 weight oil is equal or better than a 40.

In those temps, you should be running the 5w-40 full synthetic. Shell Rotella T6 or Valvoline Premium Blue or Mopar branded oil.

Either oil is CK-4 as required. It's probably best if you review the Oil TSB.
