Won't Get To Temperature - Seriously - $1k

The thing is warranty rate and "book" rate are not the same. Dealers usually "lose" money on warranty work.

I don't think it's the fact that they "lose " money....more so that they don't "make" as much money.

No its the same time given the only difference is they are not charging a customer 150$+ hourly shop rate so the dealer is not profiting as warranty work and recalls basically covers the cost of doing the job only there is no loss to the dealership as they get paid a set amount and the “tech” gets paid book rate only in all situations due to flat rate pay so any extra time is done for free by the “tech”

Quick update…the fix did not work, imagine that! To make it worse I picked the truck up to find out on my way home it still wouldn’t get to temperature. The tech addressed a low coolant code which turned out to be a bad float but never addressed the reason the truck was there.
I took the truck back the next day for a thermostat replacement and of course they needed to order it.

At the end of the day it was a stuck thermostat, it has been replaced and all is back to normal.

The reason I say "lose" money is the techs time is not being charged at "shop" rate.
