wireless charger issue

Note 10+ here and I have to remove the phone from the Otterbox case. It charges just fine when it's in the slot.

I also wonder if you guys are shoving the phone down into the friction clamp? You can flip the truck over and that phone should stay put if it is inserted. The ravine that you gently set the phone on is not where the phone should be, you push the phone down about another inch to inch and a half and the phone bottoms out in the lower cradle. Now the phone is literally "clamped" into place by the front rubber "flap" that you deformed as you seated the phone down into its resting place. If you are not deforming that flap and getting the phone down to the bottom, you are not centering on the charge coil. Make sure that you are doing the full insertion, it should require effort to remove the phone from this rubber clamp device.

It took a day to convince myself to push the phone hard enough to go into the clip because I was pushing so hard it felt like it was going to break. After a few uses, it loosened up a bit, so I can put my phone into the clip with the otterbox cover with no problem. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S10, and my wife uses a S10+, and both phones fit in tge charger in their aftermarket cases.

I am definitely pushing it down all the way, but it will intermittently lose the connection on a real bumpy road. Good point, though.

I can barely get my phone back out by pulling up on it... What in the world kind of bumpy roads are you on? The Baja 500??

Works fine for my iPhone 11 Pro in a dual layer (hard shell over soft) case.

1HasBeen is spot on. My 1500 & 2500 both have the feature and both are fickle. Case thickness will definitely interfere, if it’s too thick the signal can’t penetrate but on the average case it’s no problem. The charger works IF you get the phone in the right spot. I’m fairly tech savvy so I’m hip to how it works. It’s a shortcoming of the design/engineering. In both of my trucks I can insert the phone on the mark, the blue light illuminates and then later randomly look down and see the red light flashing indicating a loss of connectivity. I agree they should have done a better job with passive charging. We had a Toyota that you simply laid the phone on the console and it worked like magic every time. While it does annoy me I have to remind myself the rest of the truck is awesome and more than makes up for the minimal shortcoming. Plugging the phone into CarPlay slot also charges and opens the full use potential of your phone. Hopefully they improve the functionality in future models.

I guess they used the common engineering method, "It doesn't matter if it works as long as it looks cool."

I have a Note 8 with a really slim case and it is really more off than on. The holder is also poorly designed because I worry that my screen protector will be ripped off from the tightness.
