Winch Options for RAM 2500 6.7L on AEV Bumper

I just saw this thread, so I'm late to the party... for anyone still looking, the Smittybilt X2O 12k is a direct fit into the space and bolt pattern of the AEV bumper. I love it, the remote is pretty solid and magnetic mounts when set down. $829 price before sales. Think I paid $675 somewhere online, however I can't remember the link right now.

Nice.....I need to get that license plate bracket as well. Good to see other winches being installed into this great bumper.....

Just curious, I saw some Ram reviews and they stated the Cummins was not available with the winch because of space/cooling issues? I think it was the new Rebel with the Cummins. Any thoughts or input on that oddity?

It doesn’t just block the intercooler, it sits when’re the bottom half of the intercooler would need to be. It’s physically impossible to have both.

So, that is with the Rebel bumper, that sits where the intercooler is right? This thread indicates that if you run the AEV Front bumper you will be fine.

Its with any RAM diesel......the intercooler location makes it impossible to have the PowerWagon front bumper with winch setup. So you need to get the AEV aftermarket bumper that will hold the winch. There are other options out there as well but I think AEV is the best.

Hmm, I really like my OEM chrome bumper, are there any options out there that would allow me to run a winch and retain my bumper? Is this question bad forum etiquette? Should I start a separate thread? Thanks

You may be able to have a trailer hitch installed up front and have the winch attached to the hitch with a cradle. Only issue may be the trailer hitch mounts may conflict with the intercooler as well. See if you can find one specifically for a RAM diesel .....

Thanks, if I go with a winch I may have to fab my own, the options I found were either too much $ or just ugly!

My buddy has the hitch/winch in a cradle on the front of his diesel 2500, has some LED pods on that cradle also.
I don’t love it but it works and can be moved to the back if needed, that’s pretty sweet.
He is a fabricator of sorts, not sure whether he made the setup or not.

If you’re really skilled then go for it, but remember that these are heavy trucks and need big winches, and those big winches can put a lot of strain on parts. There’s not many people I’d trust to weld up something that I’m going to trust my life to.
