Why did you buy a 2500

I got tired of driving my 1500 bottomed out at the rear. I put heavy loads in the bed regularly but don’t tow very often. Plus, my 2500 is my daily driver so I wanted a good ride. I’ve always wanted a diesel too. The 2500 fit my needs/wants.

I,m not trying to insult anybody, typical Canuck EH! already saying sorry. But why are you Americans so obsessed with buying 2500,s when you all clearly need a 3500 with all these heavy massive trailers your yanking around.

Because I wanted the 2500 and a diesel. I didn’t need either. I wanted both and can afford it. 1 year later and I’m still in love with my 2500 megacab diesel.

The best part is, that he thinks us Canadians are any different.
Whats with the insults, Whats with the childish come backs, I,ve been going to forums ever since the internet was available and the off topic answers and stupid rants that destroy all that these forums do for whatever you have. This question has nothing to do with YOU Americans or YOU Canadians its got to due with population 2500s sold in the US are triple compared to Canada and I don,t live in the US and asked a simple question to know why and judging by 99% of the intelligent responses I see why and thank them.

They're called keyboard warriors, they exist on forums and every other part of social media. But on the other hand, inflection, tone and facial expression do not exist without face to face conversation.

I bought a 2500 CTD because I bought a 5th wheel and the RAM 1500 I had would be doing a wheelie down the road if I attempted to pull the camper with it.

To those that have said they bought a 2500 because they didn't need a diesel......you do know you can get the Hemi in a 3500 right??View attachment 14571
I'd be curious how many trucks in this configuration have been built? I see alot of our local utility company trucks use the newer 3500 DRW with the 6.4L as fleet trucks so I know they exist. But to see one like yours fairly optioned and higher trimmed (anything over a tradesman) is impressive.

I do wish the 2500 platform was available with leafsprings. Even as an option. I don't know when Ram dropped that from the 3/4 ton trucks or why?

You do realize that not all Tradesman are not just work truck vinyl floor, seats, crank windows?

I have a travel trailer that is 33’ long. I towed it with a Toyota Tundra. Power was enough but the truck was getting pushed around on highways and windy days. Not to mention payload was maxed out with the kids and wife and generator etc...Bought the 2500 diesel to stabilize the tow and help when pulling into the mountains (live in Colorado). Reason I went with the 2500 is better ride as it’s my daily driver. Love the new truck. Hope it holds up as well as the yota did.

Damn...That's a lot of beer money!
I have saved the cost in ice already. But I am using it as an extra fridge at home so I guess that ice savings doesn't really count. LOL But being out on the trail for days and not having to worry about ice or ruined food is wonderful.

When we primitive camp, we usually get with a vender who is already having ice delivered. But once cold, the Yeti keeps thing cold for 4 days with
out repacking the ice. We also have an RTIC, and it is good for 3 days.

2014. Because people ruined trucks. They want them to be a station wagon.

But at the capacity the 2500 works...the coils are great.

I have a 99 and an 03 with leaf springs. Both the 99 and 03 have 8800 GVWR. My 2015 with coils has a GVWR of 10k...and handles a 3000lb load of bricks better than either of the 2 with leaf springs.

As I mentioned...coils are not the limiting factor. Freight cars have used them forever. If they could figure out how to get the coil located closer to the wheel...the 3500 would have them. I think you will see the 3500 offered with a coil option before too long keeping the leaf springs for max tow.20210219_080831_HDR.jpg

Probably not many, I had to order mine as dealers around here don't bring in 3500 Hemi's in anything other than Tradesman fleet style trucks. I live in Montana where most everyone thinks they have to have a diesel. It is very well optioned, pretty much everything except the sunroof and 12" screen.

Amateurs. You use a fridge/freezer like the ARB. You won't lose any room because of ice and no wet beers or hot dog water. LOL

I make ice packs out of juice bottles and rock salt. No water in my cooler and will stay cold for days.

Availability and wife's not ready for DRWs, I'd much prefer having someone able to take the wheel every once in a while. I test drove a really nice 2021 3500 DRW Laramie with air-ride and almost took it home but the way people park in our neighborhood the DRWs are a super tight fit. Ended up with a 2019 2500 SRW 6.7td Laramie MegaCab that's as close to fully loaded as I can get before I hit the mid-70s (Leds, 12" display, BLIS, Surround cams). It'll tow the trailers we're looking at which have all been under 10k and 99.9% of the time it's just me, my wife and my daughter. No toy hauler or 5th wheel plans. Availability is the other big issue here, there are at least 15x 2500s to every 3500 DRW and 25x 2500s to every 3500 SRW in the area. I looked hard for the past couple of months for a 3500 SRW Longbed Crew Cab with half the options I really wanted and only found 1 for 76k and it was gone the same day.

When we move out of the city and get more experience RVing we'll probably upgrade to a DRW. At the rate things have been going with the truck shortages I'll probably end up breaking even or making money on the next trade-in like I just did with my Jeep. Market be crazy.

I used to think my Yeti was king until i bought an arb50 and now the yeti tundra 50 just takes up space and collects dust.

Buying the fridge is the best mod I have done for my truck and Jeep.
