Why are Titan 50 gallon tanks so expensive

I just got got some quotes on installation of the Titan yesterday, and waiting for one more, and will get it put on. There has been several times I have started sweating looking at the fuel gauge, and just coming up on 200 miles. Far too short, and far too short in some rural areas. All I need is an honest 300+ mile range while towing, and I am happy.

Has anyone priced it out to have a dealer install the ram 50 gallon tank?

I get so much bad information from my dealer. I cannot trust them to do much with out directions from corporate. And then they need to be checked up on.

They quoted and I paid $440 canadian to have the dealer install the titan replacement tank. At shop rates, that is about 2.5 hours. I've heard others say it is a 4 hour job, but I don't know how long they took as I had it done before I took delivery.

My experience with my 2016 and 5th wheel were almost identical. I think the farthest I ever went when towing was 260 miles. By that point the "distance to empty" miles had long disappeared to be replaced by "fuel low". I was in the right lane and nervously waiting for any surging and if I felt anything I was prepared to immediately coast to the shoulder and add my 5 gallon jug. I made it and put a little over 30 gallons in; I really think that was cutting it too close.
I haven't towed yet with the 2020 (with titan tank), so will have to wait to see.

Like others, I am looking forward to the larger tank, and the flexibility of being able to pull into rest stops or tourist pull outs instead of scrambling to find fuel.

BTW, a little OT, but if you are not already using GasBuddy, I highly recommend it. We have saved hundreds of $$s by having my wife search ahead of time for where fuel is cheaper. In our experience, truck stops along the same route can be 40 to even 60 cents per gallon difference within a few miles.

I down load gas buddy when I desire to use it. They got too intrusive in the past year or so. I do not need ads popping up.
