Been a lifelong Ford guy...waiting for my Ram to show up any day now...was looking at the F450 king ranch.....got a 3500 HO DRW.....Ford has been having too many issues....couldnt get the color combo I wanted and the dealer was a bunch of arrogant idiots...used to have 4 ford's in the stable....just one left....even bought my first foreign vehicle after they in their infinite wisdom stopped making cars...yes I know they make the mustang...that'll be a Jeep-Ram-VW-Ford in my driveway....next car I buy to replace the Ford....won't be a Ford....they still use a cp4 pump.... windshield recall....rear driveline/axle recall...class action lawsuit on the tailgate....recall on the 10 spd trans....always wanted a Cummins and having driven my buddies a couple times...I like the these Rams...the interior is better and the DRW flares look better....only thing to really nitpick about the ram is the non telescoping steering wheel and I don't care for the mirrors....wish they stayed vertical and telescoped....

I too have been a Ford guy all my life with the exception of my first two trucks which were Square body Chevys 30ish years ago. I don't tow heavy, so diesel wasnt a needed option for me, but I would have a hard time making any decision against the Cummins based on engine alone. Pick what you like best. I personally made the jump because the Ram just kicks everyones ass when it comes to interior, and exterior styling IMO.

Go test drive them and pick which one you like the best, it's a simple as that. They are both great trucks and both have their fair share of issues. Not going to lie, been a cummins guy for many years but my next truck just might be a Ford, I'm really liking that powerstoke tremor package.

.

Ford still using the CP4 was a major factor in me staying away. Ram has the Mega Cab that doesn't have a competitor in other vehicles. The Ram interior and GM interior is great. I was also on the fence about the new GM/Ford 10 speed trans. Went with the Mega Cab cummins with new revised CP3 and 68rfe. Feel good about my choice.

Just a few things I was thinking about a couple of months ago when searching for a new diesel.

I have always owned Fords and currently own a 17 F-150. I have had several small issues with my 17 and there have been quite a few recalls, never left me stranded but annoying to deal with any issues on a newer truck This has turned me away from the current model. The interior on the HD models resembles my current truck to much, I wanted something different this time around.

From a power stand point the Ford wins hands down. I have not driven a HD with the 10 speed yet but my 10 speed in my current truck is not the smoothest. The transmissions on my 10 and 17 Fords always seem to lug around and both trucks have had a mild shudder at low RPMs. These were 1/2 tons trucks and at the end of the day the HD trucks could be fine but I did not want to risk it.

A hot topic on the current generation trucks is the CP4 fuel pumps. Ram went away from these in 2021 but Ford is still running them...........definitely something to consider.

I looked at the Fords as well, they sure look nice. One of the dealers I went to had windows so you can see the mechanics working. That day they had the entire body off a practically new F250 6.7 to access the engine for repair, which apparently is common practice.
Seeing that pretty much changed my mind on the Fords.

I believe that Ram does the same. They design the trucks for this now, so it looks worse than it is.

Opening the hoods of both it sure appears like the Cummins has much more room to access most components for repairs. When the Ford CP4 goes out the body comes off, Ram pumps are accessible without body removal. My luck after cab removal would be rattles, missing or stripped bolts, torn wiring etc.

I’ll take my chances with Cummins

I went Ram for the simplicity/durability of the Cummins inline 6 and the fantastic interior. The Ford has the horsepower advantage, but I didn't buy my truck to race Powerstrokes between stop lights.

Hell yea. This is what I like hearing. Obviously I was leaning toward a ram since I have one and the interior is superior over anything else. But figured I’d ask guys who drive these more than I have.

I had a Ford, nice truck, plenty of power. However, the interior sucked, and the seats hurt my back. Ram interior blows Ford out of the water. If you plan on driving like Mario Andretti, the Ford has way more hp, but if you tow a lot, the Cummins has off idle grunt in spades! I live in horse country, lots of folks pulling monster gooseneck horse trailers with living quarters. Out of 10 trucks, 7 will be Cummins, 2 Ford and 1 duramax. Heavy haulers know which is the best drivetrain for that purpose.

Powerstroke has more power and is a faster truck in a straight line. Cummins has more torque and is a VERY confident tower.

Ford looks better (opinion, obviously), but the interior of the Ram is FAR AND AWAY better than the Ford--even the '22 Super Duty. Ram is superior in the interior (where you spend all of your time).

After just picking up my new ram I know I made the right choice....
