Have a lot of firsts: First Ram, first HD, first brand new vehicle, first factory order. Have the order placed and now patiently waiting with everyone else. What additional accessories/equipment should I expect to come with the truck. I know is should include wiring for my auxiliary switches, 2 fobs, and my floor mats. What else should I expect to get? Want to make a list so I can check something doesn't turn up missing at the dealership.

I found a checklist of items to check before signing anything so will be using that. Welcome any tips or personal practices you all have.

Some other items you get
Owners manual
2.5 > 2.0 inch hitch adapter
Wiring plug for if you remove the tailgate

Sweet! Was not expecting a hitch adapter. Nearly **** myself when I seen some that were $30+.

My 3500 was delivered to the dealer without the hitch adapter or the wiring plug.
Did not realize until reading on here that both should have been in the truck on delivery.
Dealer was very good about it and immediately mailed me the wiring plug, and a month or so later, I went in and parts guy handed me the adapter.
Good on you to think of this before delivery!

My list was a little shorter...Drive to PA, sign papers, get in truck and drive home!

Seriously. I think my "inspection" was 3 minutes top, then a 5 minute drive. If it was something glaring, I'd have likely noticed it. If not, that's exactly what the warranty is for. That list is beyond obnoxious.

Imagine being the poor sap who has to sit with you while you go through a car wash, after everyone waited an hour for the vehicle to cool down before you started this whole run of insanity.

Not a list I made, just a list I found. This will be my first new car and first factory ordered car. I have little idea what to expect, so just trying to find helpful information.

I didn’t order mine, but I searched pretty far to find the right one.

One thing that is important to set in stone before you take delivery is the “we owe” paper. That’s anything the dealer still owes you that was worked into the deal. It could be an accessory such as Bedliner, could be all weather floor mats, etc. this could also include the hitch adapter if it’s missing. You want to make sure it’s on paper. Dealership personnel come and go and if you return and say Joe promised me this… Joe doesn’t work here anymore.

If there are any dents or scratches you should find them before you take delivery. If you still want the truck, I’m sure the dealer will fix them for you. If you come back in two weeks and say your truck is scratched they may not believe you, not sure.

Other things aren’t so important to catch right away. the operational things are covered by warranty. You can’t find everything at delivery. I bought a brand new duramax and one panel of the rear window defrost didn’t work. I didn’t notice until the first winter. It was covered under warranty but I didn’t fix it. To me, I decided to live with 66% defrost rather than a possible leak.

I get it. That list is just a bit overkill. Like, you're (not you, personally) really going to go find and run through a car wash?

Make sure all the main **** works, which it all probably will. Make sure it wasn't ****ed up in transit, things look square, etc. It's not a used car sale where the second you sign the paperwork, that **** is all on you.

If you bought it at a decent dealership, they do a PDI that should verify most everything is functional. And the factory does this before they ship as well. I think the biggest thing to really be concerned about is simply missing features/options, and transport damage. A little bit of common sense, and knowledge of what you are receiving, should be about all you need - which is my "method".

I'm of the belief that if you try hard enough, you'll find a problem if you want to. However, different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

All of this is good info. I’ve actually read where some people didn’t even want the dealership people or delivery driver drive the vehicle off the delivery truck! That’s a bit overkill. I would be PISSED if I was the driver and had to wait for you to get there to perform a job I do everyday!! Also, seen where numerous people request that the dealer doesn’t clean the vehicle after the journey from plant to dealer. Claiming the local teenager/detail guy doesn’t really care about the vehicle, just to clean the darn thing. It’s likely to have lots of road grime from train and truck. It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea but, the dirt could possibly hide a scratch or scrape. Myself, I don’t want to pick up a brand new truck dirty, and have to drive it 7 hrs back to MS.

Sounds like at least a two day list. I would at least have them check the tire pressures in front of you since they usually come with 80 psi from the factory and most of the time tire pressures are missed during the PDI.

Can't say for current MY but my 2020 came with OM, Diesel supplement, and UConnect manuals.

If it's a diesel, capless fuel filler neck funnel under the passenger seat by the jack.
