What is this on driver side mirror?

Whilst washing it down i noticed this on the driver side mirror, lower half just left of the folding joint. Looks like a pin of some kind... passenger side, just curious if anyone knows what it is for or does??
2019 CTD Laramie if it is an option Of some kind

Good point, maybe. I can test that theory easily tomorrow i guess with ice to see if it drops, strange that i never noticed it before although no other car or truck i have ever owned has anything like this obvious for temperature measurement

It's for ambient outside temperature
