Coming from the passenger side.

Truck and HVAC system had been on prior but was off for at least 5-10 minutes. This went on for probably 5 minutes.

You may need to click the mute icon image for sound.

[ETA]

Per the MECHANIC, this is the DEF Evacuation Pump and is normal.

Said it pulls DEF out of the lines to prevent freezing in winter and evap in summer.

It must not be temp related because it was 70F that day...

Strange, to me it sounds like static in the background for a CB Radio, but I know that isn't it as I am partially tone def.

The hell???? It did it again? How do you start that noise? Is it something that happens after you ran the motor?

I have never heard that with my 2019 HO. I wonder any of the AlfaOBD changes could have caused that. [I am not trying to be sparky, that is a genuine concern.]

Trying to wrap my head around this. In both vids the motor was shut off? All of that sound was coming from another source/component?   Please let us know thx.

Is it possible this is a mild case of a runaway diesel? If a small amount of fuel or oil is leaking into one of the cylinders, the engine will keep running even when the ignition is turned off.

You can determine if it is a runaway situation by choking the air intake. If the sound stops when you cutoff the air supply, it may be a mild case of runaway.

can you take a video of start up, idle for a few seconds, then shut down.. all in one video?

Haven't disappeared. I had a busy work day and online forums are a distraction.

The engine IS NOT RUNNING. It's not a runaway diesel engine LOL. It's not a free spinning turbo. The truck had been off for probably 10 minutes.

Unlike most self produced videos, the sound is actually loud enough to hear something. Both videos were taken at the same relative time. The one from the wheel well was actually shot first. I then crawled under the truck and did a short one (not posted), then crawled out, opened the hood, and shot the underhood video. This noise went on for 5-10 minutes and stopped while doing the underhood video.

It almost sounded like the cabin heater blower motor but everything was shut off and it was coming from the engine bay.

Thanks Mark,

I noticed some service records on my truck when I was looking online. Do you have visibility into these? I'm curious to know what these are. I did have a few delivery issues noted and they all do show "sublet."

I know you have replied to at least one of my posts regarding the poor bed and cab alignment. I discussed with the dealer via email but hadn't made an appointment.

Please PM me with the details if they are available. Thanks.

Is there a coolant after-run pump in the 2020 diesel?

Although the truck wasn't hot in the least. I had only turned it around in the driveway to wash/wax the shaded side.

On a run that short, possibly something to do with the DPF if your truck is trying to do a regen? my VW TDI diesel would run the fan for about 5 minutes after the car was shut off, if it had been in the middle of, or just finished a regen to drop the temp of the DPF to a safe level.

Thanks for the follow up, @brutal. For this inquiry, I kindly recommend working with your dealer as they are in the best position to pull these records for you. If you do need any additional support for the appointment, just let me know!
