What happened to Rich?

OK Rich, sorry it took so long to get back to you. We hooked up our 10K lb race trailer and went racing over the weekend in NH. Just as somebody else referenced, at the 50 mile to go display my large "low fuel display" came on for a few seconds and then the little light up on the left came on steady. My fuel gauge was at 1/8, the first white line where the red starts. I stopped at the next stop, 10 miles later and she took 25.7 gallons to fill.
So once again I'm back down on fuel and waiting for the low fuel light to come on. Its well into the red zone at about a 1/16th of a tank with estimated mileage to empty being 66 miles to go. You all said it should come on with around 50 to go, so im gonna take a drive tomorrow to see if it will come on as you know it didn't before. We hook up and head out on Wednesday morning so ill have to fill up tomorrow , so hopefully the light will work this time, I'll keep yah posted.

Ya, mine was like I described and pretty precise. Exactly 50 to go, light came on. It was the start of the red. not well into it. Being how you have the larger tank, The gauge may be different but I would think you should still get the fuel light at 50 to go.

Well see today in a few hours, ill post. Besides the bigger tank and calibration i believe its so low into the red because this tank full i was hauling the fiver at only 9.5 mpg vs the 13 I average around town so if have allot less fuel at an eighth on a 9.5 mpg run than a 13 mpg run.

So this can go two ways, it either worked as designed this time or last time i didn't see it and it worked and I'm a DA and didn't know where to look. Either way , it worked how we've discussed. At 50 miles of range left the evic displayed the big gas can with the chime for about a few seconds then went away and i finally was able to see the little gas can light that is supposed to stay on with around 3 ,2 gal. To go, i was ecstatic to see it work properly or to know were its going to pop up at. I'm guessing i had between 3-4 gallons left with 48 miles left and averaging around 11. The pump shut me down at $125 wich was 45.3 gal., so I was close and I didn't feel like starting the pump cycle all over again for a single gallon to see exact capacity left.

Only drove 250 miles today, but it was a long 250 from the coast in Oregon over into Cali. Had several steep long climbs along the way that were slowed down due to single ln construction. Everything performed great. Whenever the water temp would reach 219 the blower fan would come on and it would immediately cool down. Tranny temp got to it's highest temps yet to date. Mostly stayed around 163-165, but after outdoor temps shot up to mid 90s and we were pulling the hills up and down 4000' elevation, it hovered around 172. Jake brake worked great, held me back perfectly, until someone slowed down in front of me. Think i might be figuring out were my rattle is when the Jake kicks on. I think its in the plastic bubble beneighth the rear view mirror. Couple hundred more tomorrow. This truck is great for traveling in

You have an Exhaust brake.

You have an Exhaust brake.

Yah yah yah, i know. It works great to. I believe it actually works better than the one on my 16 ram 6.7 2500. Don't know if anything is different or not but it seems to be better to me

Just wanted to comment. Trip went good, all vitals performed as I would expect. It was 96 degrees out and ac worked great, only ran it on #4 after about 10 minutes of cooling it down and i don't have any extra tint on any window that didn't come factory installed. Only ran between 70-75 today because we didn't want to Check in to early and averaged 10.8 mpg.
Quick question? Aren't the aux mirrors also supposed to be on auto memory. Whenever I put out the bo winkle mirrors, i hit my pre programmed #2 preset for mirror memory and the spots never adj.

My wide angles do not adjust with memory either. Just the big ones.

We need to dig into that. I thought it was in the write ups on the build process

Ok, so I checked the build site and it doesn't show memory for the convex side mirrors , it just shows side nmirrors with memory and doesn't state exactly wich ones are memory. I just assumed when they described mirrors with memory, that would be all the mirrors, but another disappointment. Man if ram paid attention to these forums they could really build the perfect machine. Definitely lots of room for tech improvement in my point of view. Here is a description from the owners Manuel.

feature allows the driver to store up to two different memory profiles for easy recall through a memory switch. Each memory profile contains desired position settings for the driver seat, side mirrors, adjustable pedals (if equipped) and a set of desired radio station presets. Your Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Key Fob can also be programmed to recall the same positions when the UNLOCK button is pushed.

NOTE: Your vehicle is equipped with two RKE Key Fobs, one RKE Key Fob can be linked to memory position 1 and the other Key Fob can be linked to memory position 2.

Well I found this note in the Manuel, so that settles it. That's definitely stupid though, there's some improvement ram.

His point was that you continue to call your exhaust brake a "Jake" when that is technically incorrect.

Thanks for the clarification, but we knew that, thats why we were joking around,
Ie: yah yah yah , i know. ;)

So I thought I'd bring up the adaptive steering. I've done some reading on this and from my understanding when going slow like swinging in a parking lot the steering wheel is more responsive than if you go 80 on the interstate making a ln change. Wich makes complete good sense for safety and a sporty handling feel. Apparently there is not just a single steer gear anymore and it's ratioed out based on speed. Can anybody add to my explanation, if that's accurate or not?
Now that we got that out of the way, does anybody even notice any difference in steering sensitivity vs driving your older model rigs. I've got to say, they say this is positioned with the ln sense warning/ feedback technology, wich i do like because I'm a site seer and a drifter, yup I'm that guy, but im not impressed at all with any adaptive steering technology on this ride as I've not noticed anything really different than my older trucks. Anybody out there that can actually feel a difference, id like to hear your thoughts.
Then thers this : Direct Adaptive Steering
transmits the driver’s steering inputs, moving the tires through translating the driver’s steering into electronic signals, and independently controlling the angle of the tires, and the steering force. The technology provides a sense of strong propulsion on a variety of road surfaces, and the feeling like you are directly touching the road.
Now that sounds like a system that can make a difference, to bad we can't get Nissan technology on our hds.

the steering on my 18' camry is heavier than the trucks.

Yah these things steer great imop. Doesn't even feel like I'm driving a DRW , like my old 96 dodge duely drove, it was a tank. No, my point is that i can't tell any difference in steering ratio and can anybody actually notice a difference in the steering sensitivity from going slow or going fast. Now the turning radius still definitely sucks for a drw. I can definitely see why hemi cut off his stop blocks to let it cut better. I don't k now why they don't do that from the factory so it can turn like a srw but thats a whole other topic
