Rich... say it ain’t so... I thought for sure you were going to pull the trigger
Yeah yeah yeah, I know. At first I was he'll bent on the tinfoil look. Then i swapped my preferences over to the painted hooks to match. Believe me if i thought they would match perfect I'd do it. Talked to 2 different body shops and i feel like the price was reasonable at 250. The way they both explained it though was that if you paint them billet silver as is, they won't match, that they have to be sanded / ground / buffed down or whatever you want to call it to take the porous texture away and make them smooth, then they can paint and it will match. So as bad as I want billet silver tow hooks because I think it would add to the classiness but also make it custom, I'm afraid I throw 250 at them and they don't match then I have to throw another 250 to get black ones back on. Uh yi yi, momma Mia. I'm so disappointed in the aux camera system right now, I just need to take a break from mods for awhile and see what comes out and if anything changes

  • I wonder if anything like this cheap plug in will work on our 12 pin system. Then all we got to do is wire in on the back side and then you could instal just 1 specified wire length and pick out a good camera.
  • brutal: accidentally Im you, sorry.

Well I washed and waxed and armour-alld and polish the chrome this weekend . Getting ready to start hitting the rd next week and i wan't her to look good. Plus when its rained for days straight and I've not been able to clean her up, i can look back at my photo gallery and see what she's supposed to look like. I'm pretty proud of how she turned out so i thought I'd post a few pics.

Looks great Rich.

But you don't really use Armor-all do you? That stuff is crap.

Use 303 Aerospace protectant on your plastics rubber and vinyl... 16 years my 04.5 sat in the sun protected by 303. 16 years...

Your right AA is just the quick fix, and it don't last long. More or less it just cleans than protects. In saying that, I've never had a problem with my plastics or tires from cracking. I even use it on my slide seals on the RV to keep them pliable , but im always looking for a better product, were do you get the 303 and what's the cost compared to AA

303 on Amazon. It's a little spendy but worth it. I buy the gallon jug refills. It's like Frank's Redhot, I put that sh*t on everything.

Leaves a nice mat finish, not greasy, doesn't collect dust and dirt. It is possible to put it on too heavy and get streaking. Use it on the RV stickers too, my 04 Cougar still looked pretty decent when we traded it, especially compared to many others that age.

Well I found my block heater cord. Did some research on u tube and it was no good. So I went back in the archives on forum and found some discussions about being behind the front license plate molding. Low and behold, there it was. Not behind air dam or air cleaner or behind rt head light. Tucked right up in the license plate cubby. I pulled 3 of the plastic plug fasteners off to give me extra length and I routed it right out the rt tow hook slot. Had enough to hang down about 3 inches but I just strapped it on the hook out of the way to maintain the clean look.

Thanks, wish she would stay like that. That's why I have to take pictures, so when it gets dirty, I just look back in my gallery at what it's supposed to look like. Don't look so good today. Had a big day of traveling planned but the wife wanted to cut it in half so we stopped after 200 miles. I guess it would be hard and boring sitting on the passenger side but i can't stand driving for only 2.5 hrs and calling it the day. I'd rather be getting it as opposed to sitting at a dumpy over nighter.. took a couple of pics of the new pin box height since I adjusted it to lift the RV height as high as it would go. So I'm ever so close. The good news is that the electrical box I relocated to inside pin box and those little angle pieces of steal at back of pin box now just barely clear the side of bed rail, when jack knifed and level of coarse. It did for sure give me more turning radius now that those clear the side of truck but still not enough to make me feel comfortable, knowing that you don't pull out of parking lots that are level but I think I'm going to leave it alone. The only other options I would have would be raise the head another 2" setting, wich I dont want to do. High enough now at 13'8". Or lifting the suspension of the trailer by 2" with blocks or correct track but thats $300. With us only keeping the camper for 18 more months, ill live with it as is. Could be better but it's better than it was.

I hear ya and my truck is/was worse being black. I was real unsure about all the ceramic coating talk. A good friend of mine owns a collision shop and he was all about the coating as well. I took the plunge, cost me 1399 for the Opti-Pro + ceramic coat and what a difference. Before, I could wash my truck and the next day it would look dirty from just sitting with dust. Now, I have only washed it one time in nearly three weeks. Hell, when it rains it washes my truck now. It's amazing and I am now a believer. Just a thought.

these dust storms in utah are a beech. Spend ours washing waxing polishing and protecting snd next day it's covered . Try to spray off but just leaves dirty spots

Got me a cool little hack. With my bakflip folded up flat to last full panel for travel, with my cargo camera i can't hardly see the fiver head in the camera behind the bakflip cover as it's just below and past cover. So hers what i did.
1: remove 3rd brake light w/ cargo cam by removing only 2 screws
2: there are 2 little plastic tabs on the back of light that go into an insert that hold it in a certain location. I popped them off.
3: have some thin weather stripping that I doubled up at bottom of brake light assembly to angle it up just a bit
4: re insurt brake light, start 2 screws, now that 2 little tabs are gone to hold it in that specific location, take your hand and push it up toward roof line as high as screws will allow.
5: snug down screws
Now the camera is 1/2" higher and buffered out at the bottom just a bit ( but still sealed well to prevent weather from Getting in by adding weather stripping) wich also tilted up camera just a bit. Now I can see my whole fiver head over folded up travel position bak flip cover. These changes were minimal but did just what I needed them to do.
I also want to add that I pushed my bak flip cover as far forward toward cab as I could so that rear seal was just barely on tailgate edge.

My setup is so close that if my genset is too far back (+2") and up against the puck rails, I can't see the hitch head.

Ive got mine as good as its gonna get now. I can totally see the hitch head in camera to line it up, now the major downside to the folded up bak flip now is when I'm backing up, I used to just look out the back glass to back up and I could see the height of pin box to know weather to stop or not and if its the same height as hitch head but now when i look ouf the back glass i can't see anything over the folded up backflip wich I hate because my wife had to stand there like I'm a rookie. I'll be glad when we eventual get that rig that has the auto memory on height from when you unhooked. That will be nice

Mine has the autoreconnect height memory but it doesn't work if you unhook and it's below level. Haven't run into that yet.

However, I bought an LCI remote control I can run from the truck if it's off or won't return to hitch height. The newer/higher end rigs have an app you can run from your phone to the smart LCI controller for everything - jacks, awnings, etc.

Yup, that's why I'm excited to get a new rig, eventually. I guess simply put, i can't see the pin heighth from inside the cab now snd I'm afraid I'm going to tear something up, ie : tailgate, hitch head, don't like that feeling

For $#/+$ and giggles, I looked on the build site and were over half way through the 20 model year and they still don't have the aux cam build option on the site yet. That's a pretty pathetic tech FU that wouldn't take but a couple of minutes to add. Then to boot, as if that isn't 3rd rate car dealer enough, they still have the retractable step as part of the bed pkg, wich they can't clearly produce, but if you click on that option we will gladly hold you up in production/ inspection so we can ask you 10x what did you want to do. But hey, you can count on your local dealer to clear it all up for you as they are always so well informed on the product there selling. hahaha :p :D:)ahhhhh, i feal much better now.
I did talk to ram customer care today and told them again about my dead pedal situation on take off and i sent them a link to that little device that we talked about would eliminate that. I told them it will only correct the dead pedal and nothing more and i just need to know that it won't affect my warranty. She said, you guessed it, we can not authorize or approve the use of any aftermarket products and that I needed to take it to my local dealer to be inspected. Again, hahaha . Thanks again, i needed to vent.

OK Rich, sorry it took so long to get back to you. We hooked up our 10K lb race trailer and went racing over the weekend in NH. Just as somebody else referenced, at the 50 mile to go display my large "low fuel display" came on for a few seconds and then the little light up on the left came on steady. My fuel gauge was at 1/8, the first white line where the red starts. I stopped at the next stop, 10 miles later and she took 25.7 gallons to fill.

Sounds like that's exactly how it's supposed to work. If and when I get that low again, at least I know what to look for. I haven't been that low here lately to test for a third time now that I know everything to look for and where its supposed to show up. Thanks for getting back

So I don't know guys. I'm thinking I may have thrown my money away. All I needed was an old suv and a truck bed to make the dream work.
