What Happened to Accepting Responsibility

You should see the grocery getter dings in my wife's (little) Suby.

The worst one is a vertical dent 2' long that creased the body panel break. I think she actually got hit at the hospital she works at in an employee only lot. People are A-holes.

No, I didn't. I figured i was far enough away from the cameras to where that would probably be a lost cause.

Did you check with the store to see if they had security cam footage?

Many states would consider this a hit and depending upon the total of the damage it may be a misdemeanor or a felony.
Around here they refuse to show cameras

Take it to a body shop, not the dealer. They should buy a new door skin from Ram. Just crimp/spot weld and paint. Been there, done that.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. .... And even if they didn't, at that point they certainly do not deserve the privilege of driving, and oh by the way...keep them away from shopping carts!

We get it, you're with Her.

Awwww.... I see you're one of the special kids...

And buy yourself a dash cam that has g force detection when bumped the camera will turn on and start recording good chance of getting the persons plate #

Best you can do is try to go to small claims court... parking lots around here are considered private property and the cops won't do much except document the incident.

even here you cant really do much, i do have access to the MTO system to see the address if i get the plate# not hard to give the bastard a good scare

Went to the grocery store this weekend and while the wife and I were in the store, somebody decided they needed to modify the aerodynamics of my truck door. I am sure their intentions were good when they did it, probably thinking they would decrease the drag of the truck and increase my gas mileage, thus saving me lots of money over the many years I would own the truck. I wish they would have been kind enough to leave me a note so I could contact them and let them know how much I appreciate the work they did. Unfortunately, they wanted to remain anonymous, so their good deed will go unrewarded.

I was sick when I saw it. It is my first new truck and I have only had it for about 7 months. I don't understand how someone could do this and just leave. I don't know if it can be fixed somewhat inexpensively or if it will cost me an arm and a leg. I want to avoid filing an insurance claim if I can. It is about 12-14 inches long. Anyone have an idea of what it might take to fix it?

That definitely hurts and the cost to fixing it…probably go for the insurance claim.

One thing you can try and not sure how effective it’ll be…use a heat gun and heat up that area. Immediately after, using a can of compressed air, blow the cold air over the area. See how that goes.

If the indentation comes out, use compound and wax to buff out.

This won’t be perfect but, the cheapest way out.

Best of Luck and Sorry to hear about the mishap.

I got a door ding in my passenger only three months after I had my truck. Went to the hydroplane races in Bay City, Michigan out lady parked next to me and swung her door right into my truck. Put a finger sized dent under the passenger door handle.

I will stop by a couple shops for estimates. If it is less than 2k, I will probably forego an insurance claim

Wont work for that, thay trick is for dimples or spots that are not creased he only has one option and thats full on door skin repair/ replacement

Best bet would be find a used door and have it painted or iff your lucky find the same color

That's rough, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I don't know what type of insurance you have, but I had a stretch of bad luck a few years back with a parking lot dent in the bumper, one in the door, and a chunk of wood that fell off of a truck that cracked the front bumper all on the same car within a couple of years of each other. I filed claims and paid the deductible and the rates never went up because they were not at fault claims. Maybe it works different in different states, I don't know. I have a low deductible too so I took advantage of that.

I posted my parking lot vehicle alteration a few months ago as well, no note, nothing. A kind citizen backed into my truck and put a hole in my grill.

That sucks! If you are in the SoCal/San Diego area I know a mobile guy that is great. Inexpensive too.

Definitely know how it feels not wanting to get a mark on a new vehicle, my fiancé and I just bought a 2021 4Runner as her daily driver. Had it for 5 days and had less than 200 miles on it and someone sideswiped her on the way home from work. $9000 in damages and will be a month or more until we have it back. They may even just order you a new door, her driver door just had a mark on it from the other cars mirror I thought they would just sand it down and repaint it but they are getting her a whole new door.

Hey, the great thing is we are men and we forget stuff - just ask my ex-wife.

Anyway, when my brand new Jeep was delivered some not-so-kind person left a gouge in the passenger door that was a foot long and 1/8" wide. I had a local body shop fix it and you know what...after some time I just forgot about it. So that's my good message to share for today. Yes, these things hurt to a degree but in the grand scheme of things they don't really matter so fight back by being extra kind to someone and don't expect anything in return.
You are right, in the grand scheme, it isn't a huge deal. I will fix it and move on and all will be good.

I believe a little thing called Karma if people want to be aholes then they will get it back twice over. You get what you dish out.
