I have a 22 Cummins and I am towing a 8000 pound trailer. Do you guys think it’s better to lock the truck in 5th gear or just leave it in drive. Thanks

What speed are you driving? at 75 MPH in 6th gear (approx. 1,800 rpm) the SO Cummins puts out about 290HP, no reason to run in a lower gear. This is assuming stock size tires and stock 3.73 axle gears ...

Exactly, these trucks are programmed to be in the correct gear.

The only time I lock gears out is rolling hills where it shifts a lots, or winding up/down hill where I don’t want it to shift so much.

There isn’t a gear you can’t tow in.
Same here the winding logging roads its nice to keep it in 3rd instead of the constant 3-4 shift
