What did you do TO your RAM today?

Aren't you concerned with the PPF looking like hell in a few years? I feel like every vehicle I see that doesn't do the entire panel, always looks absolutely terrible as the PPF ages.
No, PPF has changed DRAMATICALLY in the last 5-7 years. XPEL has a 10 year warranty against basically any defects. Aren't you concerned with the front end of your 70k truck being sandblasted to hell??

Thats good to hear. Hopefully it holds true.

I'm not too concerned with that, to be totally honest. It's going to age as I use it, and it'll eventually get scratches, dings, etc. That's all inevitable. End of the day though, it's just a machine I use to create memories.

I have a mobile body guy that is amazing and I can have him out three times for the cost of XPEL. Plus he can fix the things the other things I get myself into.

Yep. He did my front bumper (cover?) on my 07, which had scrapes on the corners, he painted and installed a new grill surround (got rid of the chrome surround), and fixed a big rock rash and dent on the rear corner, all for $700. He has also done minor work on my LJ and my wife's Range Rover too.

While he was doing my truck, another body shop called to have him come color match paint for a classic car they were having trouble with. He knows his trade.

Sounds like I need this guy's contact info! Always good to have someone like this just in case.

As is par for the course, what should be an easy simple project turned out to be a much larger endeavor.

Purchased front and rear heavy duty splash guards from the dealer. Installed the rears first. Not too bad, except the plastic rivets they supply are junk and not sized correctly. Several of them broke.

Then I moved on to the front. Discovered that the mud flaps hit the wheel-to-wheel MOPAR steps. Enough to bother me. So I took off the steps and shortened the front by 1.5” using hacksaw and angle grinder. And once again the plastic rivets didn’t work too well. Went to a few local auto parts stores and got some big Christmas tree push pins and used those.

Two evenings and about 4 hours later, finally done.

Got to say, the MOPAR rubber mud flaps are not a very good implementation from an install perspective. The hardware was junk. And they interfere with the factory steps. I think I’m happy with the end result, but the implementation should be better for a factory solution. I’d expect what I got from a lower-quality aftermarket company, but not from an OEM. If I had to do it again, I’d look elsewhere.

I had zero issues installing mine in 2020. Picked up the rivet tool from HF.

Can't comment on the steps as mine are power and clear plenty.

So, after sitting in the parking garage at LAX for a week while we went on vacation, I took her home and to the carwash for good cleaning and wax.

Today I gave her her first oil change at 500 miles. Wix filter and Castorl Edge 5W40. It doesent get down to freezing here so she will be OK.
But changing the oil filter was a B1tch due to the sway bar disconnect motor. Finally got it done though.

Then I went to the dealership and finally talked them into giving me my Vechicle PIN so I can use my AlphaOBD to make some changes. Wound up the guy I had to get it from has raced Off Road and we know some of the same groups. Plus he has heard of our pit support group. So I may have a new point of contact in the service department.

Also finally ordered my Lund tri-fold soft bed cover.

Tomorrow starts the install of my AMP power steps.

No need for a PIN with AlfaOBD, there's nothing you can do with it and it's not needed for these trucks. Older BCM used it to do RF hub resets. These are no longer required.

Ok. Some of the videos I've watched on youtube said you needed it. I have now so it doesent really matter. At least if I do run into a point where I need it, I have it. Hope to start playing with it tomorrow.
