Tell me more, honestly the only complaint the wife has about the truckReplaced the lower hinges on both front doors. It’s the only way I have ever managed to get rid of, even temporarily, the famously noisy Dodge/Ram front doors. I’ve done it on all three of my trucks several times over the years.

Wags38: I've owned several Dodge trucks 2500 and 3500 regular and quad cab through the years and have never replaced door hinges on any of them. Never experienced the "famously noisy Dodge/Ram front doors". Have I just been lucky through the years.Replaced the lower hinges on both front doors. Zero improvement with lubing the hinges. I’ve read a ton of posts about using a certain type of lube and making sure to lube a specific part of the hinge. It works great immediate afterward then I go open the door the next day and it’s like it was before. Changing the hinge gets me several years of noise free operation. Why can’t you just lube the hinges?
I’ve tried lubing my door hinges and it makes them much louder so I cleaned the lube off with brake cleaner and the door was silent after that so I think the hinges need to stay cleanSuper easy!

There are some good YouTube videos covering this too.
My truck has factory fender flares and I was able to do this without removing them.
I used a rattle can of matching paint and some cheap clear coat to paint the hinge a day or two before I installed them.
-Remove the inner fender liner
-Remove small piece of insulation and you will see both the upper and lower hinge
-Remove two bolts attaching the hinge to the door and two bolts attaching it to the truck body
(MAKE SURE THE DOOR IS CLOSED BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE BOLTS AND REMAINS CLOSED UNTIL THR NEW HINGE JS INSTALLED)
-Install the new hinge using the existing paint marks to roughly line it up. Tighten the bolts to the door snug and the bolts down. Snug the bolts to the door alittle more than the bolts to the body. Then slowly open the door and make and up and down adjustments on the two bolt attaching the bolts to the body. It helps to have a second set of hands to help with fine tuning the gaps when the door closes. I used a floor jack and a chunk of 4x4 to slightly raise the passenger door a bit before I tightened everything down.
I deleted my post because I meant clean not lube. Almost Forgot that lube makes it worse, cleaning makes it better.Zero improvement with lubing the hinges. Basically just a dealers choice kind of thing. If you find a way to quiet them down that works for you, run with it! I have yet to find anything that works well other then just swapping them out.
Lucky!!! I’ve owned three Rams and everyone has had terribly noisy hinges. Could be due in part to living in the Midwest where road salt like to destroy everything!Wags38: I've owned several Dodge trucks 2500 and 3500 regular and quad cab through the years and have never replaced door hinges on any of them. You just blew my mind a little bit. I’ve never thought or read anything about keeping those little suckers clean! That might be the trick!I’ve tried lubing my door hinges and it makes them much louder so I cleaned the lube off with brake cleaner and the door was silent after that so I think the hinges need to stay clean
How do you replace hinges with the door closed?Super easy!

Through the fender. Remove the fender liner and you can reach inside the fender from the wheel well. How do you replace hinges with the door closed?
I'm in Michigan so I totally understand and hear you on the road salt.Lucky!!! I’ve owned three Rams and everyone has had terribly noisy hinges. Could be due in part to living in the Midwest where road salt like to destroy everything!
Interesting, Thank you. Never looked and honestly I hope it stays that way.Through the fender. Remove the fender liner and you can reach inside the fender from the wheel well.
That's because they don't want you working on your own stuff anymore. They would rather you bend over at the dealership.I installed some engine bay lighting today. I can’t believe that most trucks don’t have lights in the engine bay anymore. View attachment 86083
The hemis don’t need it cuz you don’t have to fix them as much as the CumminsI installed some engine bay lighting today. I can’t believe that most trucks don’t have lights in the engine bay anymore. View attachment 86083
