Nope not that I can visibly see. Looks pretty stock to me, but then again this truck is new to me.

That doesn't look stock at all. Looks like a five year old installed it. Usually people find tracking devices under the dash.

The real question is was it on there prior to you purchase and you didn't noticed it or was it installed before you took delivery. Did you pay cash or do you have some crazy apr? If you remove it you might get a phone call.

it is from a large Ram dealer here in town. I do have a loan with a bank but it’s a “normal” for the times. It’s not with the dealer itself. I suspect it was on there prior to purchase as they didn’t have time to put anything on when I bought it.

These devices are becoming more and more prevalent and not just as a post-sale tracking device for sub-prime borrowers, but more so an inventory loss-prevention/tracking device.

My understanding is the service providers often install these on dealer inventory as part of the offering and neither the provider or dealer uninstalls them after the sale unless the customer raises a stink. Finance will often try to work these into the deal under the radar as "lojack" or some other made up BS loss-prevention location tracking device that's an "upgrade" for the customer. Most new vehicles can already be tracked by the OEM telematics so it's all BS and just margin for the dealer.

What should really piss everyone off is the hacks into the wiring most do.

In our case, KIA tried to sneak one into our deal in finance (I caught them) and I also found and disabled the device (pulled the fuse) in the lot before we left. Fortunately, their install was just spade terminals under a POS lead and GND lead and easily removed once I got home. The box was just jammed in beside the battery and no harm done.

Quite true. With the help of @Jimmy07 I called up KARR and asked them about the unit. They confirmed it was installed at the original dealer in California and that it was still active but only as a shock sensor for the alarm. They said it was up to me if I wanted to leave it on or take it off but it did add some value above the OEM alarm system. My dealership didn’t care if it was there but they confirmed it does have a starter kill wire on it which I’m not I love with. So, laziness might win out on me and I need to put my time to better use like finishing my kitchen cabinet restain and completing the dry wall redo in my office and replacing the dump truck injectors O rings.
